I suspect I'm just being really dumb here, and it's probably really simple, but I just got my CA license plates for my Prius, and I can't figure out how to put on the front one. As far as I can tell, I have the plastic piece that holds the plate, and I have two screws to attach the plate to it. But I can't figure out how the plastic piece itself attaches to the Prius. And I can't find anything to tell me how it's supposed to happen. With my previous car, it turned out that either I'd lost some bolts somewhere, or just never gotten them; fortunately, the dealership gave spares to me for free, and put the holder on in the process. Is this the case here, or am I really just being really dumb?

There will be two little dimples in the front bumper that indicate where the holes should go for those screws to attach the bracket. I had the body shop put it on for me when I was getting my mud guards installed. I'm in PA, where we don't need front plates. I used it for one of the Prius logo plates from the PriusChat store. It looks really nice.

I guess that's why they're pointed at the end and not simply bolts. Still, I have to say that makes me a little bit uneasy... poking holes in the paint of my Prius.

We do here in WA and I think it's a good idea. If your car gets stolen, the police (or anyone for that matter) can only identify it from the back. So a plate in the front doubles your chances for recovering your vehicle. Dave

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(zqfmbg @ Apr 13 2007, 03:01 PM) </div> The selling dealer should have attached the bracket to the front bumper as part of the new car prep before the car was delivered to you. If I were you, I'd go back and have them do it or, if the selling dealer is too far, have that dealer pay the one closest to you to do the job.

And my Prius doesnt seem to have anything on the front bumper to indicate installing a front plate bracket. Not sure what I would do if I moved to a state that did require them though..

They usually want the few weeks "free" advertising until the real plates come in the mail. Maybe not true in states with one plate, but in California, its always been my experience to have to remove the dealer ad to put the plates on, and the bracket has always been there before I get it.
