Forgive me if I've missed this topic, as I haven't logged in in months, but a search didn't find what I was looking for... My work colleague was telling me that he read an article somewhere (doesn't remember where) that when it comes down to it, the Hummer might just be better for the environment in the long run. It said that the nickel in the Prius hybrid battery was highly toxic to the environment for one, plus the battery's parts are made in 3 separate countries, and all the production, shipping etc is also harming the environment. So when you add up all the destruction for one battery, it hurts the environment more than driving one Hummer. Anybody seen this or know anything about it? I would love to have some info to refute the article and shut my friend up!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(trenapt @ Apr 11 2007, 06:09 PM) </div> He's right. The search is currently busted. A logical search of prius and hummer gets nothing. Results are possible, but it's tricky.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(trenapt @ Apr 11 2007, 06:09 PM) </div> When you do searches try to use the name of a company or individual as the criteria. http://priuschat.com/index.php?act=Search&...mp;highlite=cnw If that link doesn't work simply search for "cnw". <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Presto @ Apr 11 2007, 06:22 PM) </div> It works, you just have to try different criteria. My first try using CNW came up with most of the recent threads.
Right. I found http://priuschat.com/index.php?showtopic=31433&hl by looking for "Sudbury," but that's because I knew the name of the town the nickel mine is. A Google search using "Hummer" and "Prius" brought up http://clubs.ccsu.edu/Recorder/editorial/e....asp?NewsID=188 Maybe a sticky should be made with the article and why the information is wrong.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(F8L @ Apr 11 2007, 06:23 PM) </div> Ah, yes. I guess it is strict when it says "Enter a keyword or phrase to search by." Lame.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Presto @ Apr 11 2007, 06:27 PM) </div> Yeah, I figured Prius and Hummer would bring up too many hits. lol
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(larkinmj @ Apr 11 2007, 06:49 PM) </div> You mean like this?
Yeah, I for one am so very tiredof that freaking article........... I just wouldn't drive a hummer if you gave me one, and I don't believe the article either .
thanks for your help, folks! i'm forwarding the link to my friend/colleague so that he can read all the debunking for himself.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(trenapt @ Apr 11 2007, 06:55 PM) </div> Before you do that read this thread as well. http://priuschat.com/First-Personal-Prius-...nce-t31718.html
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Rangerdavid @ Apr 11 2007, 09:54 PM) </div> Insert your own hummer joke here!
Trenapt, you might search GreenHybrid as well. Bob Wilson, a PC member, is also very active there, and has posted some very well written "debunking" arguments. I can't remember if he has posted similarly here, but maybe GH's search function is of more help than PC's.
