Changing temp diaplay to C from F

Im sure I saw this in the settings somewhere, but I dont have the book to hand.

 

the dealer could probably toggle it using the scantool. It's probably in there, I seem to remember a thread about it wwaaaaaayyyyyyy back.

There is a trick for doing a quick approximation. I am too old to remember it, but when I saw it I thought is was great. Oh well. I will start looking into the memory care units.

 

For rough figures (at normal outdoor temperatures), subtract 30 and divide by 2. Or from C to F, multiply by 2 and add 30.

e.g. 72°F -> 72-30 = 42 -> 42/2 = 21

Pretty close to the correct 22.2/9

 

Centigrade is no longer in use since 1949. Celsius (°C) is the SI (United States measuring system) unit of temperature measurement. The media continues to cling to °F, despite federal agencies moving to SI (US measuring units) effective October 1992.

 

When the ODO is set Miles the temperature is in F. When it's in KM, the temp is in C.

 

Actually, that's clearly the way it's supposed to be.

However, I have noticed a bug (I believe only since I had the SSC-40D reprogramming):

Sometimes (seemingly at random) upon starting the car up, the outside temperature in the upper right of the screen comes up in Celsius even though the ODO is set to miles.

A workaround for what is clearly a bug is to select the "Climate" display. The Outside temperature will be on the upper left, still in Celsius. However, if you push the "Climate" button again, you will get the Energy Monitor display with the Outside temperature in Fahrenheit.

Go figure.

Yep that's the one! I am going to write it down and put the paper in a safe place. Of course I will not remember where that is.

 

Boy, that happens to me all the time: I make a note to myself to remember something, and then I forget to look at the note.

 

I just had the SSC-40D reprogramming done on Wednesday and have not had the Centegrade display problem. I have an early built #9 (October 2003)

As a gadget-freak I want a PDA. My problem is, I have absolutely no use for it whatsoever, and it's just one more bulky thing to carry around. I use a pocket-size notebook instead. (I don't even carry my cell phone around with me. It sits in the car, always off, waiting until I need to make a call.)

That must be a North America thing. Here, it's in °C all the time (which is good, as temperatures in Fahrenheit mean nothing to me, but we don't use km in the UK - well, not on road signs, anyway).

 

I only do C in increments of 36 through 40. Before and after that everything is in degrees F.
