when we first registered and got plates title etc.. they marked it as gas I told them it was a Hybrid they then marked OTHER and also what did they(license Bureau) mark down the HP as? thanks
The Prius, as well as every other HEV (hybrid electric vehicle), is a gasoline-only fueled vehicle. Since the electric motor/generator/battery system is a closed system, it can't be counted in anyway as electrically-fueled. A PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) can be considered "dual-fueled."
To my memory, Ohio registered my Prius as a "hybrid." However, so far as I can tell, it's an absolutely meaningless distinction - no discounts, no HOV benefits (why Dayton even bothers with traffic reports befuddles me, as an exiled northern Virginian); the same basic license plate.
