probably a stupid question. When I start the car, I can see paaenger airbag, on, and off lights. When I have a passenger the airbag on light comes on with airbag light, but without a passenger the airbag light comes on, but not the off light ( I know it works because it lights when I start the car). When does the off light illuminate?
The airbag off light might turn on when the airbag has been manually turned off. This thread might need to be moved to a Prius-specific forum.
The owner's manual covers this behavior quite explicitly. The ONLY time the "off" light comes on for the passenger airbag is if there's a malfunction in the occupant sensor system. No occupant in the seat does not light up the "off" light. With a properly functioning system, you should always see the "airbag" light lit up, and then the big highlighted "ON" light only when someone is in the seat. You should never see the "Off" light.
This is an old thread but I'm experiencing this malfunction on my seat. My airbag light says "off" without anybody on it. Anybody know how to fix this? sensor location?
