Not flying, exactly, although it always feels like it on the long downhills; this is taking a breather on the Oregon coast three days out from Seattle on an American Lung Association charity ride down the Pacific coast to San Francisco. [attachmentid=7253] Still not flying, but making ready to; at work in the hangar fabricating the panel mount for an engine analyzer instrument. [attachmentid=7254] Our Cessna in pieces awaiting installation of the analyzer. (This particular maintenance episode took a few months because I also replaced the alternator & regulator, replaced the rudder cables, put in a new avionics bus, installed wingtip strobes, and did some other small odds and ends that you guys with your own airplanes and boats know about all too well how these "minor" repair sessions turn out not so "minor"). Here is a pic of Wayne (fireengineer) and I at a dance last year.... He is my Sweetie! Take Care! Teresa

ok it took much longer than we expected (12 days overdue) plus the last 3 days have been a bit hectic, but here we are.[attachmentid=7391] Me, Lindsey and Ryland Shorai Nolan Akamine Ramey-Laur born the 5th at 4:34 pm. 3.72 kg (8 lbs 3.6 oz) 22 inches long by "C". complications on delivery. Ryland's heart rate kept dropping when we tried to induce him. couldnt figure out why and finally said lets just get him out. in this pic, the person on the right is holding the umbilical cord. follow it to the lower part of the screen and you see a knot. [attachmentid=7392] here is a close up of the knot. only conclusion i can make... he might become an athlete, but he cant skip rope.[attachmentid=7393]
Congtatulations Dave and Lindsay!! By the pict, it looks like mom dad and son come through quite well.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(DaveinOlyWA @ Apr 8 2007, 06:26 PM) [snapback]420020[/snapback]</div> Congratulations! But isn't that an awfully big name for such a small person?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(daniel @ Apr 8 2007, 09:20 PM) [snapback]420109[/snapback]</div> actually the name is tradition. his name of Ryland, we pick based on his personality and presense. so this was not picked in advance (we had a list of 4 names) his first middle name is Shorai which means "future" in japanese. that is our hope for him. the next two Nolan and Akamine are Lindsey's and my mothers maidens name because that symbolizes where he comes from and who he is made of. so all in all. couldn't have made the name shorter really
Good to see you, Dave in Oly. Now if I run into you on the street (not literally!) I will recognize you! Just look for the Silver Pine Mica '06 -- there are only a few, even here in Olympia... Congratulations on your cute little munchkin. =)

Okay, to keep up with the Joneses (not to mention the Daniels and Evans and Darells...), I need to post an outdoor action shot. Here I am with the water backpack at a prescribed burn, for a prairie our volunteer group has restored. Everything is fairly quiet now, but earlier in the day the wind switched and there was a bit of, um, excitement, in the scramble to keep things contained. [attachmentid=7406]
