I saw a yellow and black City Cab Prius on the 101 Southbound in Los Angeles this afternoon. It is the first Prius taxi I have seen. I wonder how much money the cabbie is saving on gas? It looked pretty cool as a taxi.
saw YC4 today on the way home, one of about 35 in their fleet. Lots of them here, every cab company has them now.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(jkash @ Aug 3 2006, 07:55 PM) </div> There is a "Wing Zone" restaurant here in town with a black Prius custom painted with their logo that they use as a delivery car. Everyone who works there wants to drive it!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(prez1 @ Aug 3 2006, 10:05 PM) </div> I was in vancouver last week and I saw four prius taxi cabs and all were different compaines. I think one was a yellow cab and one was black top cab. I can't remember the other two.
there are waay more than 4 cab companies with Priuses in Vancouver. I think their costs are half of those of regular cabs.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Tideland Prius @ Aug 4 2006, 02:36 AM) </div> There are lots of cab companies but as I stated I only saw four Prius taxis. There could be more then that but since I didn't see them personally I couldn't state that. Speaking of costs, I saw a MINI Cooper S in one of the malls in Richmond and it was 36k sticker. Prep and delivery was 1500 cdn. Ouch, we pay something like $600 USD for that. I think a MCS similarily equipped here is around 25k USD. And I paid 1.13 a liter for gas. Expensive! Anyway, enough of costs.
haha I know which mall you're talking about. It's the one with the X5 too? $36k I believe is not fully optioned. I know cause my cousin has a regular Cooper and his was $40k after taxes (and it wasn't even fully optioned) I mean, your Prius is $21k, ours is $31k.. big difference.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Michgal007 @ Mar 31 2007, 08:26 PM) </div> wow.. finally NY cabs are taking a liking to the Prius (after using FEH). It's a very common sight on the west coast. They're almost as common as regular cabs.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(LandCruiser @ Mar 31 2007, 11:23 PM) </div> Nope. none in my area. There are 3 Camry Hybrids, tons of Priuses... and that's about it. The rest are regular Camrys (both 4 and 6 cylinder), Corollas (of all trim levels - CE, S and LE surprisingly), I've seen one Altima (06) and one Jetta. That's the "new" fleet. The newest American taxi in my area is a Malibu from 04.
Here's another picture of a Prius Taxi [attachmentid=7224] "Seven people -- including the driver -- were in the hybrid Toyota Prius taxi, said police." They all survived without life threatening injuries.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Tideland Prius @ Mar 31 2007, 11:47 PM) </div> NY taxis are predominately Ford sedans followed by Toyota vans and a few Prius. At least this is what I've seen between Penn Station & Columbus Circle on the West Side.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Michgal007 @ Mar 31 2007, 08:26 PM) </div> Too bad Toyota didn't offer that yellow as a standard color, then California buyers could get a Prius that their HOV stickers would match.
