Nancy's trip to Syria

I think she should stay home and bake some cookies.

 

The five foot mother of 6 is doing what no republican man has the guts to do. Get the FACTS instead of bark-a-lounge it in front of FAUX entertainment/news network. Don't be so threatened by her, she's merely a mommy with a gavel.

So it's all right for Senators and Congressmen to go on fact finding missions, but not for the speaker of the house.

I've already said I think our country can benefit from the firm hand of a mother or grandmother. I wouldn't be surprised if Nancy was going to gently and diplomatically lay down the law and the consequences.

 

She is just trying to mend some fences. You know how much respect the muslim world has for women (especially in positions of power). I am sure she will be a hit.

Let's look at the history books, shall we?

Democratic president, Carter, had to deal with the fact that terrorists held American citizens hostage. He told the terrorists to shove it.

Republican president, Reagan, had a similar situation. He groveled before them, saying "Oh, no, Mr. terrorist! please don't hurt me! You want money? Here you go! You want weapons? Here they are!"

The funny thing is Carter is nowadays remembered as a "wimp", and Reagan all macho cowboy, when in reality Carter is the one with the brass balls, and Reagan was the wimp.

It's good to hear a progressive opinion on this board. By demographics Prius owners are smart and well informed, but sometimes I feel as though I'm lunching with GW before an NRA convention.

 

Nancy's got balls 'o steel... these are the kinds of steps it will take to arrive at peace in the Middle East.

There's a vast difference between being christian and christ-like. The vast majority of americans who call themselves christians are indeed nice, courteous, and civil. But of those I'd hazzrd that mort are not christ-like.

 

I take it you are equally outraged by Republicans Aderholt, Wolf, and Hobson, who are there now, and Spector who recently returned from there.

Well, actually, I do believe that what happened was that Hezbollah in Lebanon had the hostages, and that Regan sold weapons to Iran (who weren't holding the hostages, but were in a war with Iraq), inorder to get Iran to try to pressure Hezbollah to release the hostages. It's true that there were all kinds of things in that deal to criticize, but it wasn't as you characterized it.

In defense of Rep. Aderholt and the other Republicans, a trip to Syria was all they could afford. Jack Abramoff isn't around anymore and couldn't pay for them to take a golfing trip to Scotland.
