Just went by hahahah not needing to stop since in the prius and checked $$$ it is now .13 cents higher
for 2.499 gal. reg. super is 2.699 It is sooo nice to watch the big trucks pull in , the ones I see smoke alot too. and they are farmers that have cash but want to let you think they are flat busted, but then get into a 2007 quad cab dually. My heart bleeds for them,,NOT Dont get me wrong I like trucks and farmers but when they speed up and down the road and pollute the air I breathe it bothers me. Oh forgot to say they are so broke they are what is called land rich I guess acres up the wazzu (sp) I feel for the truley hard workers living day by day pay check by paychk u get the drift otherwise let gas go up to the moon..
My wife and I are one of those working stiffs well she is I am disabled and I think we are doing our part. then a friend of ours comes over just bought a new F350 (1 ton) pickup I asked why, he said why not

He is not even a farmer but has heard all the scare tactics that hybrids blow up..( shaking my head)

told him to look at price of gas and our air quality he said I'll pay whater it takes I like my big trucks..

    SMART huh

oh well enough, and this was to be a short spew about .13 cents hahah
    sorry

And that post is the one negative aspect I have in driving my Prius. The justifiable stereotype that people who drive Priuses laugh when gas goes up, think other people are "polluting" their air, and the utter distain for people who drive vehicles other than hybrids. That's one of the few by-products of the Prius...Smugness.

But hey, whatever floats your boat. :)

    Just more Prius Schadenfreude. :(
Oh, well. It's still just a car, only better.
Maybe we should lower the limbo bar and make the green-izquierdistas walk/bike/ride a camel to work.

Well I should look at the gas prices next time I am out. I walk to work and the grocery store so it has been a wile since I had to fill my car. I know I have gone about 210 on this tank but that has been over the last 2- 2.5 weeks.

I don’t want gas prices up I like my money in my pocket.

Hey regenme go work on a farm. See if your prius can even get into the field without getting stuck. Put 1500 pounds of construction equipment in the trunk and a 1200 pound generator towed behind it see how far you get. People who have jobs that require those kind of vehicles buy them because they need them not because they want them. (although they may also like and want that vehicle but at least they use it for what it was meant for. Extra money will not make your prius haul tons of equipment or drive over rough terrain.

Count yourself lucky...the Chevron station near my house has it for $3.25 a gallon. The Arco station on the other corner was going for around $3.13. Sigh. I guess that's part of the price we pay for living in Paradise. :(

Gas is only about $2.41 here for 87. The vast majority of people here own full-size trucks and SUVs because they feel safer during the winter with 5000 lbs. of steel around them.

One of my coworkers laments his 45-mile on-way commute in his Chevy Equinox. He admits he was pressured into the sale by his girlfriend who thought it looked cool. He's racked up 8000 miles in 3 months. It's only going to get worse...

Hey IAO that would be you because u dont even read well enough to understand.
my friend who bought the f150 1 ton does not work is disabled and goes joy riding with it.
and as a matter of fact when I was a kid I grew up on a farm and been there done that.
can you say that. I think not.

now if you are going joy riding in your smoking polluting pick up and lets add to it a bit smoke a cig or chew tobbaco and spit in front of me Iwould call you out on it, The world is not your to pollute, and there are rights of others you clearly do not understand.

Why did you buy a prius to save gas cause it looks cool with you in it .hahahah
    have a good day

Well, summer is on the way, so gas prices are sure to rise where we live. This is tourist country, and every summer the gas prices rise faster than the national average to take advantage of tourist money. The gas prices also rise and fall on a weekly cycle: on Thursday the prices climb for the weekend tourist traffic, then fall off a bit on Monday. They claim no price fixing, but all of the stations prices climb and fall together.

This is true with most parts of society, which is why most people are on best behavior when they first meet. A first date is a classic example of this, where you wear your best clothes, get cleaned up, make sure not to fart, and so on. An online forum is like that too. When a person first joins, they want to be extra careful what they say, and spend more time reading other posts to get a feel for the tone of the forum. Later you can relax a bit and let your hair down, and by then other members will know you and have an idea of when you are serious and when you are kidding. I still have problems with that after several hundred posts.

    Welcome to PriusChat.

Dude this is what I was referring to. Big trucks pollute that is a fact. People speed not just farmers. (I was passed by a holly all mighty prius driver the other day, I was going 55 they must have been pushing 85.) Not all farmers are poor and not all of them want you to think that. In North Carolina you can see the poor farmer in his old faded jeans driving an old 70s pickup. If he is so poor why do his kids have missing teeth and old cloths? You can also turn around and see the wealthy farmer in his new truck with his kids wearing designer cloths. Yes for the price of the truck he drives he could have two pri but what would he use at works. I am a big supporter of getting nice things when you can afford it. I have a friend who drives an f350 diesel but he needs it for work. He actually went through the entire line of trucks from f150 but now he says he should have just bought the f350 it is the best truck he has had.

I do not think that people should buy a big truck to commute to and from work or do things that they can do in a less wasteful vehicle. Trucks were made for the blue-collar worker who actually needs it. My father way back was a structural engineer and worked for a coal mine he needed a truck to get to work. When he went back to school and became a chemical engineer we moved to California and he no longer needed the truck he bought a Honda civic for his commute.

I insulted you because your post made you seam like one of those _______ that run around snubbing people because they don’t drive the way you like, don’t think the way you do, and in general do not act the way you think others should.

I did not buy my prius so I could think I was better than all those around me and snub my friends who drive a truck or suv. If I wanted to look cool I would have kept the car I had before the prius.

If you want to go around telling people that they are stupid for buying a truck, or retarded for being a fake “poor” farmer, or dumb fore being a yuppie please do not tell about it hear. Unless one of those farmers kicks your fuddy duddy for insulting him and then runs your car over with his truck. Then I would feel bad for you and not for the hard working farmer.

I hope I have kept this civil. (not being sarcastic I am trying on this one)

Since I live in CA, I would love to find gas at $2.49. Filled up yesterday and paid $3.21 glad I won't need to do that again for another week!

It's been over over $3/gal for regular at most places for weeks here in the Bay Area. IIRC, I saw some ~$3.60/gal premium this morning in Mountain View, CA. http://www.fuelgaugereport.com/CAmetro.asp says the avg. for regular in San Jose is $3.241 and in SF it's $3.363. $2.49/gal gas right now would spark MASSIVE lines here.

$3.09 Near where I work, Azusa, CA (Shell). If it was ONLY $2.49, there would be lines around the block here. It was in the $2.80s in Vegas last week. Life is good in California. :) Think of all the money we save by not buying snow tires, shovels, ice scrapers, etc.

I am a bad Hybrid driver because I do love to drive fast. Therefore I am often in the "basement" MPG (38-42). I agree with subarutoo in that we do not need snow tires, shovels, etc. here in SoCal but I still don't see that as a reason to be gouged. When we are paying $3.15 and more for regular gas while areas outside of California are a good 40 cents or more below that, there is something wrong.
At times like this I am very happy to tell folks I drive a Prius as they complain about the high cost of running their Tahoes and Hummers. We all need less "stuff" (the common excuse for people to drive monster vehicles everyday when renting one twice a year would suffice)

My last fillup was on Tuesday. As I drove by some stations up by work, I noticed $2.69. Wow, it's only $2.49 closer to home.

I pulled into the BP near home and it was $2.69 there also, it went up by 20c while I was at work. I noticed it was still $2.49 at the mobil across the street, so I put the gas cap back on and went over there. Saved me $2 for the fillup.

Wednesday morning they were both $2.69.

I'm guessing by mid May, 2.69 will seem like that cheap gas we used to have back in early April.
