I have just purchased a 2007 Prius and I cannot get a cofidence check of the oil, temperature, and charging
lights. Normally when you turn on the ignition these lights come on and go out once the engine starts.
    Thanks Ian

I'll have to pay attention to whether those particular lights come on. I've only had mine for a week, so I'm not sure which ones usually self-check. It seems like a bunch of 'em do, though...

Broken Arrow, eh? I grew up in Tulsa and Bixby. Small world. B)

Iain, are those lights listed in your owner's manual? Look in the front and there is a diagram showing all the idiot lights, including a few I'm sure you haven't seen before.

    And welcome to PriusChat!

:) Howdy Iain... and welcome to PriusChat the greatest online source for Prius information - particularly for things not found in the Onwer's Manual.

Bill comments about the Owner's Manual. While it's not ideally Indexed, there's a great deal of useful information therein. On both my 2004 and my newer 2007 Touring Edition, I make it a habit of making another "Index" in the back when I read something helpful so it will be easier to find later. I highlight the pertinent information and sometimes make marginal notes as well.

I checked when I got home today. I didn't notice any of those lights when I turned on the hybrid system. Granted, plenty of lights do self-test, and all within just a few seconds; I just didn't see any of those.

Drat. Now I'm wishing I had the manual in front of me so I could see which lights are where.

To mangle an old saying... If an idiot light comes on and the idiot driving doesn't know it, is there really a problem? Or an idiot, for that matter? :p
