bluetooth

I use the Palm Treo 700W - seems to work very well with my '06.

 

I have a Verizon, lg vx8600. It appears to work fine with the bluetooth on my Prius. I highly recommend this phone. Only problem is the sound volume on the phone itself is not great. I am totally pleased with the bluetooth on the car with this phone.

 

This link from the Toyota website lists each type of phone and the functions that work with the bluetooth. My phone works great, but is Sprint.

You might want to look closely at the Verizon phones listed and their capabilities. Toyota and Verizon don't always see eye to eye. Case in point, you cannot transfer your entire phone book (data transfer) from phone to car with Verizon (unless they have made recent changes) Cingular allows a simple tranfer.

 

I have a Verizon e815 which works well. The only Caller ID I get is if the number is in the phonebook. Since I have a 2005 (and therefore no manual entry), I got a non-Verizon phone off eBay, put the numbers in that and sent the phonebook that way.

 

I have a Verison Motorola which is not listed as comptible but it is. Works fine. I also could not transfer my phone book and had to load each number separately. Not having the phone book transfered is not a problem for me, the only numbers you can access when you are driving are from the speed dial. You must have your cell phone with you to use the bluetooth feature and if you need a number which is in your phone book and not in speed dial, just use your phone to dial it and it will automatically hook up to the bluetooth. Another thing will the bluetooth is that however many cell phones are registered with the system in the car all phones that connect will use the same speed dial and phone book. My wife has a diffferent cell than I have but there is only one speed dial and phone book for both phones. We can register up to five different phones which is really handy for families with multiple drivers.

That due to the Prius system design regardless of which phone is used. Toyota has blocked the display of the actual incoming phone number when the car is in motion. It is the same for any phone . The actual phone number will display only when the car is stopped. While driving, only the name from the car's address book will show.

It is true for the two phones I have had paired with my Prius, LG PM-325 and Sanyo Katana.

My phone isn't listed on the Toyota list and it works just fine. Nokia 6310i. It's an older phone. I suspect that all you get with a newer phone is the ability to download either all or part of your phone directory.

 

I have a Cingular 3125 (Windows Smartphone). The Bluetooth works very well with the Prius- the call volume/sound is excellent, and the connection works all the time. It does not display the battery level/signal strength/roaming status on the MFD, but I don't consider that a major drawback. I note that Toyota's website says that my phone does display the caller ID on the MFD for incoming calls. I have only seen that happen ONE time (the fact that it happened once tells me that it should have that capability). It would be nice to see who is calling without having to pull your phone out of your pocket, but I consider that a minor gripe.
I have not yet tried to transfer my phonebook with this phone. My previous phone, a Motorola mpx220 (also a Windows Smartphone) would only transfer one at a time, but there is a work-around using a program called Auto Phone Ripper.

The caller ID is not dependent on the car not moving. When the car is in motion, the number keypad and contact list are greyed-out. However, caller ID should still work. I find it hardly ever does work- the one or two times that I've seen the caller ID show up on the MFD, the car was moving.

The caller ID number itself will not show up on the MFD while the car is in motion; however, the name will if it is already programmed into the car's phone book and is an exact match (i.e., with or without the leading 1 and area code) for the incoming number.

I purchased a 2006 Prius in September of last year and recently upgraded my phone to a Sync (w/ At&T-formerly Cingular)-it was one of the phones listed on the website as being compatible w/ the Prius. It works quite nicely as long as I don't use the car charger. I have been playing my satilite radio in my car w/ the car package (which plugs into one of the auxillary jacks). As soon as I plugged my new phone charger into the jack the jack died-I then foolishly plugged it into the other jack which also died-now I can't play my satillite radio or charge my phone in the Prius-I called the dealership (and am bringing the car in tomorrow) and I was informed that this happens sometimes with the car chargers supplied by the manufacturers?!?!? I think there should have been some reference to this on the website-but there was not....I'm a little disappointed about that

 

I SET UP MY CELL PHONE TO MY PRIUS V HOW COME MY CELL PHONE GETS ALART TONE EVERY 60 SEC. AND KEEPS RESETTING MY CELL PHONE AND LOCKS UP . IT DOES WORK OTHER WISE.
