Well I was driving from Tulsa to Newkirk OK and when I got to the south end of Ponca City ... even though the road sign said straight ahead north to Newkirk the navigation system wanted to take me a different way and there was no feasible way around other that to follow the sign to Newkirk...

On the way back I got to that same point going south and this time it asked me to make a right turn... I went straight ahead and the map showed as if I was going off the road and continued to show that I went off the road.. It was all white and eventually the road that I was eventually came into view from east to west and then the navigation system continued on its way.. What gives...

Was the road you were on relocated or a fairly new road. It it was, the system may not know there is a new or relocated section. Where I live there is a lot of new construction going on with new roads being opened all the time. They do not show up either and it looks like I am in my 4X4 going cross country. In a few years I might have the navigation system upgraded. Right now I can live with it as is.

Near my home, Hwy 133 had the same symptom until recently. Apparently, the GPS map had the future path of the road already laid in. For the last year or so, that construction was still underway... and I would look like I was driving off road.

They just opened the new section of Hwy 133 - and low and behold, the GPS tracks perfectly over it...
