I have a sports car, and the other night I posted on another site about the excellent mileage my wife has been getting with her Prius. The post: Gas is now $3.19 a gallon in California. Not everyone likes the Toyota Prius, but when I looked at the computer on my wife's car and it said 52.6 miles per gallon it put a big smile on my face. In one year of operation, the car has never gotten less than 50 miles per gallon I received one reply that really bothered me. Here it is below. But, who wants to drive @ 30MPH; Take the premium $'s you pay for one of those ugly slugs, invest the $'s in Exxon/Mobil or Chevron and drive, drive , drive!!!!! The last time I saw one, a German Shepard was trying to mate it!!! How would you reply to this post?
So many responses, so little time. I once saw a small mutt humping a big Ford F150. What the hell does that have to do with the price of tea in China? I would seriously tell the guy that it's apparent he has no idea what he's talking about. Then ask him if he'd like to take a test drive--if, in fact, he actually has the mental capacity to use the push button start and gear shift. And also comment that I'm driving "30 miles per hour" all the way to the bank. But then, I frequently take bait. I guess I'm just a big marlin.
Well you could get into a pointless fight with some dude on the internet or just ignore him. You cant win that one.
I implore you to ignore it...this is how many a troll invasion has begun. Idiots are everywhere. If you feel you must you can post factual data about MPG at various speeds and specs about the size and capacity, but any attempt to convince the guy that the Prius is a good car will yeild nothing. He doesn't want to be convinced, he wants to provoke and he wants to remain happy in his ignorance.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Tyrin @ Mar 17 2007, 12:22 AM) </div> I was! It is a pretty small and light digital camera. I got pretty good at it too.
I see this as a different kind of Culture War It's not Red vs. Blue per se (for that - see FHOP) This is a roadway culture war: Green vs. Gas Guzzlers People seldom get this angry unless they feel threatened - drivers that could easily pass may be displaying issues by tailgating. Seen this so often - someone attacks hybrid or driving with a ligher foot, then it's gets attacked. It's not an exchange of ideas, the pro gas guzzlers relentlessly attack like a hateful grade schooler on the playground. These idiots are going to remain idiots....but there might be some members in that forum that will listen. I'd still not invest to much time...

Don't bother responding. Easily debunked posts aren't worth the effort now. In the past though, I did push back to undercover the argument weaknesses they were attempting to exploit. But those days are over. So much has changed with respect to hybrids that anyone wanting to make a decision for themselves can find credible resources now. However, there are some people that intentionally mislead. There are some that outright lie too. Both have the intent to undermine progress. For identifying & dealing with those situations, I've compiled these two documents... Anti-Hybrid Analysis Understanding Hybrids Hope that helps. Good Luck!
