I had a question on what sound the car was making when the engine was turned off... It makes the sound for about 10 seconds after I turn the engine off and it sounds like a humming noise... What is that coming from...
The prius (in US at least) has a thermos where it pumps in hot engine liquids and stores it. When it starts it pumps it into the engine thus making it heat up faster. The thermos holds the temp for something like 48hrs.

Mine does the same thing and I noticed that if I try to lock the Prius, it won't respond until the sould stops. Is this normal?

I remember reading in the manual that there is some sort of leak/safety check performed few minutes after the engine stops, and that makes noise too. I don't have the manual with me right now, but will be glad to review that info later on and post.
