I keep having a problem with the plastic shelf in the upper glove box. It seems to snap in, and my wife's sun glasses fit on it with a small umbrella under. After a few days the shelf works loose and I have to put it back in. Is there a secret incantation to make it stay, or do I need to get some glue?
Can't say that I've had that problem yet. But I'm thinking little electric tape: It would make the bottom a little thicker. It's pliable enough to allow the shelf to work around it. Electrical tape is black and would blend in with the background. Mind you, I'm not talking about alot of tape. Just a smidgen.
That little shelf is useless and cheap-loking, second only to a thin sheet of felt/plastic inside the rectangular cubby hole under the radio. Close behind is the tray in the center console.
Oh man, are you serious? I use them all! The glovebox shelf holds insurance and registration papers for easy access. The felt under the cassette player keeps my pen from rattling (the pen is with the old business cards I use for jotting notes). The shelf in the center consol holds toll change. I'm a cubby-hole freak. And when I show my friends the inside of the car, they are always amazed by the storage. The shelves have received multiple kudos indicating insight and forethough on Toyota's part. Of course our opinions will vary, and in my opinion, I love the storage knooks.
TonyPSchaefer...That is what I did to my shelf in the upper glove box...used electrical tape, not too much, and it has never rattle or make itself loose...jfschultz...you should try it.
My wife also LOVES all those little cubby holes and divider thingy's. Me, I'm a lumper. Ask anyone who works in my office.
jamarimutt Wow jamarimutt. It sounds like you bought the wrong car, all the things you said you didn't like, I do. I am no stranger to so called luxury and hi end cars. I have several other cars one of which cost 4 times my Prius and my main driver is my Prius. I am quite impressed with all of the cars little nooks and crannies. People are always coming up to me and asking how I like the car, I tell them there is nothing dislike about it. For the money this car is a home run, not to mention great gas mileage and environmental issues.
i use every one too. dont forget the one in front of the center console just above the floor level. its a bit hidden and it took me over a week to find it. i am like jchu in that i pile stuff up in one place... i do the same thing, but now my piles are smaller and a bit more organized. realize in my old car it was glovebox or door pocket...period... oh wait... forgot the back seat toss or the under seat slide...
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(DaveinOlyWA\";p=\"39203)</div> I found the drawer in the console had my camera on the floor, reached down for something and found the drawer... camera fits in it just right.. also love all the storage... did I say "I love my Prius".....
I have found that a plastic bag, from a grocery store, can be held by the door under the radio... makes a great garbage can.. I know... don't tell me... it makes my car look trashy... oh well I'll hide it before showing the car...
coming from an Audi, where cupholders and storage are an afterthought, the prius is like living in heaven! i use all three spaces too. off topic, but i just saw a honda accord rear-end a chevy suburban. no damage to the suburban rear bumper (did not even budge). the Honda's front end was DESTROYED.
My uncle thinks cupholders in cars are stupid and is happy the European cars haven't "succumed". I guess he never does drive through or brings a soda in the car! Probably because the driver slammed on the brakes and the nose dove under the Surburban. Another example of why there should be a common mandated bumper height range off the ground for all vehicles, not just cars. Maybe there could be an optional bumper package for easily unbolted fenders for off road use of the vehicle. I would bet that at least 95% would not have this option.
take a look at my thread about fender bender costs between SUV's and passenger cars, you will find that in most cases BOTH cars receive major damage. http://priuschat.com/forums/viewtopic.php?...hlight=dateline
The little divider thingy fell off within an hour after I received the car. I removed it and now it's lying somewhere in my house... can't remember where.
