Do you think he might have thought the bus drivers wrote down his license number so he decided to do the right thing and save himself some embarrassment later? If he ran a stop sign late at night with no other one in sight I wonder if he would have ticketed himself.

What would have induced him to drive past the school bus in the first place? The purpose for the flashing lights and the no-passing law is to protect kids getting off the bus and crossing the street. While it is surprising that he wrote himself the ticket, I think he deserves more condemnation for endangering the kids, than praise for being honest about it.

BTW, our Chief ordered an officer to give him a ticket for speeding once when he saw the officer "turn around" on him and noticed he was speeding. He pulled over and when the officer walked up and started stammering, it was done. He did not tell the news about it so it never became a story, but he paid his fine and went on. Our officers RESPECT our chief. NO ONE WOULD HAVE KNOWN KOA!
