...well I have the answer if it was just Kirk vs Picard, but I'll add the other captains....and I guarantee you never saw this poll at www.startrek.com
My only complaint about the most recent Star Trek with Archer... They don't show the dog enough. (Really cute beagle.)

"I canna change the laws of physics, but I can find ya a loophole" -- e.g. letting the dilithium pack go down to 20% SOC, then have to dock somewhere for a recharge using a neutronium-based inverter shoved down into some convenient planet's core magma for heat.. . _H*
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Delta Flyer @ Feb 22 2007, 12:38 AM) </div> It's funny because it's true!
Kirk - Had to worry about dilithium crystals, but lets face it - he did warp 10+ around the sun... a Prius driver wouldn't go that fast Picard - No worry about the dilithium crystals, and he did tend to speed around quite a bit. Sisco - He is definitely in the running. After all, he liked to take his Defiant out at "warp stealth" ie cloaked Janeway - She could have driven a Prius. After all, she wanted to get where she was going quickly (like many people) but was well aware that going slower would, in the end, be better - less stress, less time spent doing repairs, etc. Her average speed most of the time was only warp 6-7. Archer - By far the best option. He had the same problem Kirk had with the dilithium crystals, and only reached top speed (warp 5) once, unlike the other captains who hit top speed at least once a season.
My regrets for not adding Scotty, LaForge to this poll. I thought this was an excellent reply (by no means the only good one) <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(eagle33199 @ Feb 22 2007, 09:50 AM) </div> My answer is Picard: (1) Q took the Enterprise-D two years away in an instant to meet The Borg - but maybe hijackings don't count. (2) The Warp 5 speed limit. Unlike Archer, Picard could have gone over 5 but did not (see below) To those that mentioned Scotty - compelling case and regret leaving him out of the poll. Kudos to Sisko for flying a trim runabout in wormholes. Janeway gets mention as the entire series was to go back 70,000 light years back to Earth. The female members would be quick to mention she would avoid the guy trap of failing to ask for directions. To those that chose Kirk - out the airlock
I think a more interesting question is: What would they drive? Kirk: Hummer all the way! Picard: Prius Sisco: Doesn't strike me as a Prius guy; maybe a Corolla. Janeway: A used Buick, but only because that was all she could afford. The guy on "Star Trek: Enterprise": Yeah, like anyone ever watched that
Sisko is definitely a hypermiler to use wormholes so much and avoid full-sized starships. Who is going to lamely mention Janeway was in the Delta Quadrant in Chrysler minivan that happend to have the same name as the series?
unlike many fans, i am primarily a fan of the original since no other show of any kind broke as many rules or hurdled as many barriers. the 2nd generation i watched and actually learned to like, but the rest, simply did not do it for me. so i choose picard simply because he was treading more familiar territory and therefore was not taking "the road least traveled". kirk always rode in like the posse from the old west and therefore did not understand the concept of "stealth" mode. to be honest with ya, the rest are completely "alien" to me. never heard of em
