Hello -- This is my first post here. I've been lurking for about a month.... nice group! I've been out looking to buy an '07 Prius and have noticed all the sales contests, give-aways, $1200 under MSRP, 0% financing, lots of inventory.... and so on. Not normal.... but Nice. Or is it? Could it be that the "Hydrid-X" to be announced at the Geneva auto show (March 6th?) will be so revolutionary that the 2007 Prius-As-We-Know-It will be "old technology"? I have a feeling they want to move as many units as possible before the announcement. What do you think? -- Charx
My bet is on the fact that Gas was well over $3.00 per gallon (here anyway), sales orders increased, production ramped up, orders were filled, inventory levels at the dealerships went up, Gas prices went down some, and sales have slowed. There's a lot of Hybrids on the lots right now, and it's never too soon to unload inventory, especially if you have more inbound orders waiting in the wings.
The new Prius will be the 2009 model and will likely be for sale in 2008. There are already some threads with photos and specs around.
