"Bank of America is offering its employees an unusual benefit — $3,000 in cash for buying a new hybrid vehicle." "The program has now been opened up to BoA's entire US workforce of over 185,000 employees." http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=6095
Isn't that nice..... Well, I guess my bank charges and interest rate will be going up to cover this benefit. Keith

Google pays $5000 for a purchase, or $2500 for a lease: http://www.autobloggreen.com/2007/02/13/ba...or-buying-gree/ http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,202067,00.html
Its more likely Bank of America has its head quarters in CA. and being such a green state it gives tax credit to any large corp. that reduces employee gas use. By car pooling, public transit, or buying a Hybrid car. And of course it most likely the auto loan needs to be with Bof A. Sweet deal, write hundreds of new car loans, get a kick back from the state. And to top it off, payments are made by payroll deduction. Never a late payment.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(DFWPrius @ Feb 15 2007, 06:07 PM) </div> What if the employee just pays the car with cash? Do they still benefit?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(burritos @ Feb 15 2007, 03:10 PM) </div> Pay for a big ticket item like a car with CASH? That's un-American... This country runs on debt. The only folks I know that use cash are drug dealers. Sorry, I'm a bit cynical today... Keith
I work for Bank of America and would like to clear up some misconceptions in earlier messages: 1) Bank of America and Nations Bank merged in 1998 with the merged bank taking the name 'Bank of America' but the headquarters staying at Nations Bank old home, Charlotte, North Carolina. 2) A bank employee can buy his or her new Prius anyway he/she desires. 3) The program was tried for about a year in 3 metro areas, Charlotte, Los Angeles, and Boston before it was made available to all employees Unfortunately, as a Prius owner since early 2004, I am disappointed that early adopters have not been given any recognition.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(aforkosh @ Feb 16 2007, 03:47 AM) </div> I stand corrected and I have to say I am SORRY to Bof A. Now that we all have the facts from an emplyee, it sounds like a very good program.
Why don't all these companies make the offer for the folks that make them able to do and stay in business the customer?
Disclaimer: I am a B of A customer, I like that they offer this to their employees. I like their attitude on this, as well, seems very realistic and practical: http://www.wwaytv3.com/node/396
What gauls me no end is my company ... Disney, touts itself as being green, and having 'environmentality' but the best they do for hybrids is give a teeny bit off a hybrid car loan if you go through their credit union. They knock off 1/4 of one percent ... wow ~ that whopping amount may add up to $80 over the life of a loan ... as compared to $3,000 - $5,000 that some companys do.
