Yeesh... we keep posting earlier and earlier photos lol. I don't know but that small subset picture looks cool. I'm not sure what car is that (eh-su-eh? or something like that. I can't read that well). But that 250ps white fastback in the top right corner would be the next Prius if I had a choice cause it looks better than the artist drawing.
Translation: My wife tells me that the SAI (Pictured up left on article) is a 2.4 Liter Hybrid. The specs are a comparison with the new Honda Fit Hybrid and the new Prius. I'm not to crazy about the back of the new Prius but the Yaris grill is ok. That other pic with the "european" prius looks too Photoshopped.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(chinito77 @ Feb 14 2007, 04:30 PM) </div> So you're saying there's another Japanese-only hybrid that we don't get in addition to the Crown, Alphard and Estima?
Nothing more than a Japanese tabloid's speculative photoshop job that pasted the then-new Yaris front end on the existing Prius. These pictures were all posted right here on PriusChat this past summer. I'm not even going to bother to vote on this one... <yawn> <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Tech_Guy @ Feb 14 2007, 05:54 PM) </div> Also a speculative photoshop job, but it least it doesn't have me yawning!
If it's real I think the front end is a vast improvement aesthetically. Of course I feel the current nose is the least attractive part of the current model (well aside from most of the interior but thats another thread). However, seeing that it is pretty much exactly the same front end as the Yaris leads me to think this is bogus. At that point that design will be outdated by 2 model years and put on the most progressive model in the fleet. Skeptical here.
more real one... http://www.greencarcongress.com/2007/02/toyota_to_intro.html Ken@Japan [attachmentid=6585]
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(ken1784 @ Feb 14 2007, 09:25 PM) </div> Looks like somebody flipped the picture to get the other side's look, and then photoshopped out the HSD badge on the mirror side. Nice!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(TomorrowMatters @ Feb 14 2007, 05:12 AM) </div> DAMN U GUYS STOP SMOKING CRACK!! no wonder u prius drivers have been notrious for having bad taste in cars DAMN!! THAT IS UGGGLLLYYYY BECAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE THE yARIS BUT THE YARIS IS SEMI CUTE THAT PRIUS IS JUST UGLY!!! im sorry that thing literally looks like s**t
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(lowlander @ Feb 14 2007, 05:07 AM) </div> Those pics look rather 'fugly'. Sort of an extreme version of the current 'toad lump' shape. Yes, I do think the current model is rather ugly! I'd say what I really think about the styling of the current model................. but I'm a guest here. The fake spy pics that were posted about 5-6 weeks ago were MUCH-MUCH-MUCH better. Hopefully, Toyota reads this board. JohnG

If the mileage part is true, I might be very interested. I wouldn't want it if it had funky shiny wheels though.
I'll take a wait and see, but where did you get 90 mpg?!?! I'll have to start the savings now if thats a fact.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(NuShrike @ Feb 14 2007, 06:51 PM) </div> Thanks, that helps. As far as 90mpg, I wouldn't hold my breath on that. My understanding is that the Japanese method of estimating mileage is even more optimistic than our EPA, so the numbers will likely be much lower once the redesigned EPA test gets done with it. Still better than the current Prius model. So will it be NHW21 or NHW30? (Complete redesign or upgrade?)
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(nerfer @ Feb 19 2007, 09:22 AM) </div> it'll be a complete redesign (although how radical of a change is still unknown).
"Looks nice" is a very subjective and personal thing, appearantly. I personally like the looks of the current Prius, the sleeker Prius previously posted, and the ones seen in this thread. They all look "cool". Those wheels are another matter. They are just too "busy". I like nice smooth alloy wheels, mainly because they are easier to clean. I'm just waiting for the shock of the new EPA method to reach all of you. It comes in for the next model year, and I suspect we'll start seeing posts on it this summer. Would be nice if they got it right.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(David Beale @ Feb 19 2007, 02:46 PM) </div> Um, it doesn't matter to me what EPA says my mileage is in their new methods, I know what my typical mileage is -- 50-52 on the highway, 40-45 in my crazy cold weather city driving. Though, it wouldn't hurt EPA to change their methodology, too many individual factors affect individual mileage that they will probably never 'get it right' for even a significant number of people. Concerning the new prius prospecting. I don't care much for the new designs shown here, and I have only grown to like the current Prius design, and even then I really only think the Prius looks sharp in black or blue. Also, if it is going to have a huge increase in mileage efficiency, I will most likely be priced out of the market while all of you crazy early adoptors pay over MSRP for a couple of years. So for now, I am going to just enjoy my car!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(David Beale @ Feb 19 2007, 12:46 PM) </div> I'm jazzed about the new EPA techniques for a couple of reasons... 1)it will be more accurate for the public...I think anything that makes the numbers seem more 'honest' will, ultimately, help the hybrid cause. 2)I should be able to far exceed the EPA numbers...I'm currently able to match/exceed them on a regular basis with the 'optimistic' estimates they use, should blow them out of the water with more conservative estimates.
