Comcast Makes Unsolicited Bid for Disney By GARY GENTILE, AP Business Writer ....."It's going for the jugular," said Paul Kim, senior media analyst at Tradition Asiel Securities. "He (Roberts) is using this vulnerable time to force Disney's hand." Kim also said Comcast is basically a cable company, and might be biting off more than it can chew...... This company has already 'bitten off more than it can chew'; they're only minimally competent in providing cable services to their customers, IMHO, and their pricing structure is insane. I'd prefer to see them make an offer for, say, Iraq; one joint they couldn't possibly make any worse.
Their cable service is by far the worst in the nation. Anyone who lives in a Comcast area I highly suggest DirecTV. Disney's on it's way down anyway - they lost Pixar and really screwed themselves on that.
Yep, and they keep pestering me about their cable internet service. Such a deal......$42.95/mo after the initial (3 month) promotional period (good thing I'm already a Comca$t cable customer or it would be $57.95/mo). Sheesh! I'll stick with my (slower and cheaper) DSL service.
I've had Charter cable internet for a couple of years. The service has been terrible. The only thing worse is the billing errors. I'd dump them and switch to another broadband ISP, but they are the only gig in town. ukeleft: ukeright:
It's funny, I used to think that Time Warner Cable was Satan reincarnate until I started visiting friends and family with other services - mainly Comcast and Charter. Both of their cable modem services, especially, leave much to be desired. In the beginning I had some big issues with TWC, but after the first couple of months of kinks (I was one of the first people with RoadRunner (cable modem) in our area) the service has been spectacular. Our cable modem is always fast, I love the digital cable, and the longer that I've been with them the harder they've tried to get me to stay with them. Anyone in a Comcast or Charter area, I tell them to switch to DirecTV for TV service and earthlink for cable modem service.
I'll let Charter give me internet service, but when it comes to something like TV, I trust satellite providers more.
Doesn't Earthlink just resell Comcast's service, though? I think I recall seeing "Earthlink cable internet powered by Comcast" on their web site.
Yeah, it is, but at least you're not giving your money straight to Comcast From what I've read, when you have Earthlink as your provider for cable modem service or dsl, you get Earthlink Cust. Service, which is lightyears ahead of the company that they are usually leasing the service from.
I just checked out Earthlink again and their cable internet service is only available in 4 states (none of which is IL).
We've been Comcast cable customers since they took over Prime who took over Chicago Cable. (Around 14 or 15 yrs I guess) As far as the cable TV service goes, we've never had an outage or interruption and the picture is always good. But then we have nothing to compare. No experience with any other cable system. Just recently went with Comcast high speed internet and it seems very good so far. Only problem we've experienced is when they reduced our service this week and offered an "upgrade" to bring us back to what we had. So for only $14.99 a month more than what we were paying Monday, we can have the same service we had Monday.... I guess that's how they can afford to buy Mickey. They pulled that one on us as well a couple of months ago. :x I guess that's how they can afford to buy Mickey. I haven't looked at their financials recently. However, last I looked it didn't seem like they could afford to buy a second-hand pair of gym socks. The company doesn't exactly have a history of making money despite the fact that they're one huge, freakin' monopoly.
