So how cold is your beloved Prius right now? Does your hybrid live the cold weather? Post your stories and pictures here!

Yes... the actual temperature is -2F... with the wind chill it was around -15F... Yesterday it got up to 18F and that actually felt noticibly warmer...

(Does this scare people living in SoCal?)

We had -5F the other morning.

My Prius is outdoors, with no garage.

On really cold mornings, I walk to work. Actually, I walk to work most mornings. It's only a half mile, and it doesn't make much sense to drive the car a distance that won't allow it to warm up thoroughly on a very cold morning.

You mean people actually LIVE in places like that? The bitter California winters are plenty cold for me. I think it got down to 48 last night. B)

I live in Toronto, Ontario. Yup, that's up in Canada. I don't think my Prius likes the cold very much. I leave the car outside all the time as the garage is full and it typically takes 15 minutes for the car to warm up on my way to work. On really cold days it can be more like 25 minutes. This TOTALLY kills my fuel milage as the engine's constantly on, even when stopped or breaking. The cold also seems to give it "sneezing" fits.... when i first turn it on it sort of makes these funny squeeking rubbing noises. Sounds like something rubbing on something like... I don't know.... can't figure it out.
Oh, it also makes it really hard to fill up the gas tank in the cold... the bladder in the tank seems to harden up and I can't put in more thank a trickle of gas without the nozzle clicking off on me.... sigh.....
On the plus side, the windshield wipers are amazing, even in the winter they're pretty darn good and the heaters all work very well once the engine's hot enough.

COLDEST screen post (I believe) on the site that I've seen was in our Northern home state (MT) and the screen reflected that outside temp's were MINUS SEVENTEEN degrees (shiver  ). They posted the question (and I haven't yet seen the answer) "how low does the car's thermomiter go?".

Temps here are in the low 20s with light snow. Typical fo thsi time of year. I think the coldest I've seen this winter was around -20, although the Prius doesn't display temps below 0F very accurately.

Poor Miles has been in the driveway in the single digits. When I first get him going, it's sounds like the dashboard is cracking. Brrrr. My mileage has dropped way down from summer driving.

On a pleasant note, my husband got me a set of heated seat covers. They fit great, look pretty good and heat up like a charm!
