I bought a new Prius yesterday, with the package #5 - and on the description it says 'Satellite Ready'. So, I asked for a Sirius addon. Which they were happy to take my money for. I get a message today (while they're prepping the car), which says that they can't put Sirius in it - quoted below. I currently have one of those addon Sirius wotsits which hangs down from your front window and you tune your radio to like 88.1 and use the wotsit to change channels... However, I'd like it integrated into the Radio of the car, rather than a separate addon. My question is this : Is it possible to get Sirius integrated with the LCD of a 2007? Cheers, Steve. Quotage : When you have a moment, please give me a call at the dealership. We have a bit of a problem with installing the Sirius in the Prius. It seems that neither Toyota or any of the companies that produce Sirius-compatible products are currently making an adapter for Sirius to be put into the Prius audio system directly. Although the Prius's system is Satellite capable, at this time that capability only applies to XM. There are still a number of options though... 1) We CAN still install a Sirius unit in the car that will be an external unit (not integrated directly into the existing audio system) With this unit you would tune your FM radio to a station (88.1, for example) and you would also set the Sirius unit for the same station. It would broadcast the Satellite signal over the FM band and your car radio would pick that up. 2) You could check with either Best Buy or Circuit City who both sell Sirius and see what kind of products they offer to install Sirius in the car. I'm fairly certain though, that what they offer is very much like what I described above.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Michgal007 @ Feb 9 2007, 10:53 AM) </div> I was also promised Sirius! but no dice, they said only XM.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(TomorrowMatters @ Feb 9 2007, 03:30 PM) </div> Meh. So, I called Sirius themselves - they have a sidebar thing under 'Help' which says 'Auto Dealers'. If you clicky on that, it gives you a list of Toyota cars which include Avalon, LandCruiser, and Solara. No mention of a Prius. I asked the 'somewhat uninterested' guy on the phone what my options were, and his response was basically 'Get an in-car unit' (which I already have). He said that they offer 'adaptors' to make inbuilt XM car stereo's Sirius compatible, but didn't think there was one for the Prius. So, [I said] 'Basically my options are a sticky thing on the window' or XM. 'yes' .... *sigh* Steve.
There is a port on the back of the MFD-radio. I have Sirius in my 2007, the same Sirius unit I had in my 2005. Works great, except under trees with a thick overstory.
