I just bought a new iPAQ6300 Pocket PC Phone with integrated BlueTooth. This is a brand new device but does anyone know if it will work with the Prius? I have tried unsuccessfully to get it connected. I have been able to connect two other phones (Nokia and Motorola).

    Thanks.

There is a bit of a trick.

I was despondent about the iPAQ when right out the box I couldn't pair it with my car.

Follow these steps and it will work as handsfree. You will not be able to dial and it will not show signal strength but you will be able to use the Phone controls on the Steering wheel to answer and hangup.

    • If you have any trouble I may have missed a step but I think this should work. Let us know how it works.

      Peace,

      Fr. Bill

Thanks Fr. Bill. After a couple of tries I got it to work. But just like you said, I could not dial from the Prius screen but could from my phone. I suppose the iPAQ treats the Prius just like a headset. I wonder when it can be fixed to work like other BT phones.

I was also interested in this IPAQ to replace my SX56 (non-BT) and was hoping to use it with my soon-to-be-delivered Prius. So I'm sorry to hear it doesn't work 100%. But how is the IPAQ 6315 otherwise? Any experience using the other connectivity? thanks!

I love the iPAQ. I wanted a device where I didn't need to carry a PDA and a phone. Now I have it along with built-in Wi-Fi, GPRS and Bluetooth.

I did speak with a level 3 help technician at HP re the BT problem. They are aware of it. The iPAQ doesn't function fully with other BT enabled cars either. It treats the Prius as a headphone but will not allow the Prius to dial out. They need to develop another BT stack to handle this problem.

Still glad I got the 6315 though. I can dial out with it and use the Prius microphone and speaker to carry on a conversation.

How are the WiFi and GPRS capabilities? And how is the phone part compared to a regular cell phone? Thanks again...

The GPRS and wi-fi are seamless, they switch back and forth automatically depending on the availability of the signal. The cell phone is a 4 band GSM, world phone. For more information check out
