how do you put 'er in "n", without battery /comput

    sorry about another probably stupid question, but i get good answers here, so here goes.....

    if you were unable to initialize the computers (no fob, no battery power, etc), and you had to get a tow. or the local police department decided to "relocate" you to another street (like they sometimes do in dc),


    how would you place the car in neutral without initializing the computer to enable the by wire (electonic) shifter knob?


    how would they be able to roll it up a roll-back, or god forbid, drag it down the street on a hook?

    They have to get the front end of the ground. That can be done with the tow hook or with a front lift type tow truck. You are correct that it can't be put in neutral without the ECU active.

    :) :D :p :wink: My car had dead battery account dome light sensor in door was stuck. Car was in electronic "Park" and couldn't get it out of park to roll it out of basement garage. If you look under the hood, there IS a 12 volt terminal in the black box that contains fuses. I hooked my charger to it and released the parking brake (I no longer use that one). It was then easy to roll it out of garage. Tow truck hauled it to dealer and they had it 5 hours to charge the dry 12 volt battery and fix the sensor. I could have probably drove it around to charge the battery but dealer thought it best to get it checked out and let them give it a slow charge. Watch out for those doom lights and make sure they go out when you exit the car. :idea:
