http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file...EDGC7N75RT1.DTL I have a feeling I'm getting $0 credit for my Feb 2006 Prius purchase. Oh well, at least my expectations are already low.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(elmofongo @ Jan 26 2007, 02:59 PM) </div> There's already a thread on this. http://priuschat.com/index.php?s=&show...st&p=381115
How is it a bait and switch? Did the IRS personally tell you that you're getting the credit, or did you hear it from "word of mouth"? It's only bait and switch if Toyota advertised that you will a tax credit, guaranteed. I don't think they ever did (individual dealers excluded), but if they did, I'm sure they said you might be eligible for a tax credit. So, *you* might feel cheated, but you also probably didn't do enough research on the subject.
I hope the article has some truth to it, because if it does, I will still qualify for the full credit!
Coming out of San Francisco, what would you expect? This post probably belongs in Fred's House of Pancakes. Some people think everything the Federal government does is a sinister plot. Chicken Little: "The sky is falling, the sky is falling!!"
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Charles Suitt @ Jan 26 2007, 04:36 PM) </div> A lot of it is just plain stupidity, not sinister stupidity. Most of the time our government isn't clever enough to be really sinister. Tom

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Charles Suitt @ Jan 26 2007, 03:36 PM) </div> And like anything out of Texas is the truth?? I bet you believe your president George Bush as well??
Thanks for posting this ElmoFongo! I'm single, and this is the first thing I've seen that's giving me hope that I'll get most, if not all, of the credit. Phew. But what a BS piece of legislation. Typical republicans--pass something that looks good on the surface, but ends up screwing you in the long run.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(elmofongo @ Jan 26 2007, 10:59 AM) </div> Its not a tax credit for the rich. If you are paying the AMT, and not getting the full credit, its only because you earn more than me but pay less in taxes. That makes you rich.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(fshagan @ Jan 27 2007, 02:38 AM) </div> Hmmm... I did not know that living from paycheck-to-paycheck and driving a Toyota is considered being rich. I have to tell my wife tonight that we're rich!! :-D
