Hi all, I was wondering if anyone has had to replace the lead-acid battery yet (not the hybrid battery). The reason I ask is the sale person told me Toyota makes it hard to get to on purpose to prevent people from messing around with it and that it is next to the hybrid battery in the back. If anyone has had to replace it, did they have any difficulties? Did it cost extra? Did you get it done at the dealer, at a third-party shop or do it yourself? On my old Chrysler Cirrus, the battery was in the wheel well and it was difficult to find a place that would do in an emergency. (Hard to drive all around town with a dead battery).

It takes some labor (I do not mind that), nothing major and cost less than half the Toyota asking price. Apparently these batteries do not last to long, mine is a 2004 production, and with the cold weather make it to discharge abruptly.
Replaced my aux battery on my 05, it kept dying, I like to leave my siruis radio on so I can skip commercials. I got a type 51 as mentioned in a post somewhere, it wasn't too difficult. Did replace the connectors because they are bigger. The ground strap was easy just replaced. The one that goes to the positive was a little more difficult but found a piece that bolted on in place of the existing one. Seemed to fit fine.. and no more dead battery in the mornings. Its the 51 not 51r, the r has the positive in the wrong place.
