Code 1391, I replaced the master cylinder/accumulator last weekend with new parts from Toyota dealer. Bled the brakes at each wheel, but no amount of pumping gets the master cylinder done. I purchased a vacuum pump, but it'll connect to the master cylinder and do 15 inches of mercury and no further, with no sign of fluid. Techstream wants to sell a $6,000 laptop. Any other options, or am I calling pull-a-part to haul this junk away? (not really, but feeling it) Edit: It seems peeps on YouTube don't bleed it, just call it a day and go. But my $350 Innova can't clear the code, and engine-on produces constant beeping. Fuses are good.... Is Techstream the only way?
Yeah, unfortunately, with the Prius, it's not that easy. It's a whole process. Even to cheat it successfully won't eliminate all the air in the system. I feel your pain. I've repaired many systems on the gen 3 but this procedure and process really pisses me off. So, the good thing is that it won't cost you that much to get a good tech tool that you can use in the future as well. Maybe $50 from Amazon and it will arrive in a couple of days. I've used an old laptop with a pirated license in the past which was about $15 from Ebay or Amazon but I don't recommend that process. Will share my tech tool here in a bit..
