I have a Prius prime 2024 with wireless charger. Unfortunatly I can't charge my Apple 16 pro with it. Is this a common issue? Any suggestions to get it to work would be great. Thanks
Does the 16 Pro lie perfectly flat on the charger bed and the charger On button is in fact on? Since I’ve been getting Pro Max iPhones which are too large to lay flat in the charger I use the space for storing stuff.
IMHO, Toyota's OEM wireless charging is just a gimmick. Even if you do get it to work, it'll continuously connect and disconnect as your going down the road. The only way to get reliable power into your phone is a hardwired USB cord.
I added a MagSafe charging puck to the slot and used Velcro so if I ever need to take it out I can. Using this setup the phone charges in the slot and I just plugged it into the usb c port in the center console area. Yeah we all know it should work without having to rig up our own fix but it’s a 45 dollar fix and it works great.

I just bought a 2024 Prius with the charging slot instead of the charging tray for the phone. But I can't find any information in the owner's manual that talks about this feature. Instead, it describes the tray, which is not a feature in my car. I want to know the meaning of the flashing and solid amber lights (I assume the solid green light means fully charged). I assume one means it's charging, and the other means it's not in the right position to charge. But which amber light is which? Also, it doesn't say if the position of the phone matters--with the charging port facing the front or rear of the car, and with the phone's screen facing the driver's side or the passenger's side. Does anyone know if I drop it in the slot any which way? Or does it have to be a particular way? I actually called Toyota and they didn't know! They confirmed that in the owner's manual for my 2024 Prius, it describes the older style charging tray, which again is not what my car has, and I think it's totally strange that they would have gotten it wrong. I also think it's strange because the 2024 models have been around for almost a whole year already. Has no one else called in to ask?
Page 380-386 in your owners manual. green - charger on, no phone detected or phone fully charged solid orange - phone detected and charging orange flashing once every second - problem between the car and charger - try turning the car off and on orange flashing three times in a row - communication loss with phone, charging stopped - try moving phone around in slot orange flashing four times in a row - overheating Just know that some phones just don't seem to work reliably with the charger. My Samsung Galaxy S20 happens to be one of them. I want to say one of the iPhone 13 models is also known to have issues, but I could be wrong about that.
Not sure if its just my Prius or my imagination, but my phones (both android & apple) won't charge if I drop/push it into the slot too quickly. It'll give me that blinking orange light. I've found that by putting it in slowly/gently so that it silently touches the bottom helps it recognize/negotiate the charge, kind of like how you quietly open a doorknob. That being said, it overheats in there on 30+ min drives when I'm using Carplay so I ended up just using an oldmagsafe vent clip.
2025 Prius, S25+ Android, Qi charging slot works fine and stays connected with a silicone case. I had a thicker MagSafe case on 1st and it had issues staying connected, new case working great, no issues now.
