Complete Gen 5 (2023+) Repair Manual Available

I think someone should go through these files and try to clean them up. I think the size of the whole package could easily be reduced by half with some optimizing. For example, so many things are taking 3+ pages that could fit on one page, and all the links to the Toyota TIS site don't need to be there. Readability would be increased tenfold as well, since a lot of tables are split up badly. (Not blaming scotched, but how "Print to PDF" works)

 

I wanted to see if cleaning up could be done with a bit of programming. It can, but in a way that's not really worth it. I am able to identify irrelevant images and info and skip them in a rebuilt PDF, but I'm realizing almost everything is in a table which makes optimizing it all a near impossible task. The problem is that once it's in the PDF, it's not a table anymore, it's just a bunch of straight lines that draw a table, and the position of text/images in the cells are hardcoded.

The best solution to this would be to save the HTML from the original pages, which could then be converted to XML and so on, but that would cost more money for TIS subscriptions and the data is already here.

 

Wait I figured out out there's a Python library called pdfplumber that can extract table data.
