SO I just got a quote as of this posting from Olathe Toyota based out of Olathe, KS

A New OEM battery will cost $3,110.00 Part number G9510-47033
    Core Deposit is $1,350.00
$110.00 fee for a Master Tech to prep the core for return to Toyota.
Plus Tax so $4,570.00 total before tax
$4,935.60 Out the door and you get $1,350.00 with core return

$3,585.60 TOTAL COST as of this date. (sigh) those days of the $1650.00 battery are dead.

Never heard of a tech to prep the battery for return That's a bunch of crap I've never heard of. When I bring my battery to Rick Hendrick Toyota and Apex North Carolina they don't need to do squat It is completely correctly assembled parts removed that I need all of it cover back on and bolt it down blah blah blah they call me in 30 minutes and tell me my battery has been accepted for change because I know it has and there's nobody done anything I put it in the box that I took the good battery out of on the loading dock Toyota hasn't touched anything they closed that box up when I put my core in it and drug it on the ground back into the parts department and then I was notified the next morning and my 1350 was back in my account and I didn't pay anybody $120 for prepping anything because there was no prepping for them to do It was already done for them I'll have to ask Rick Hendrick about that later on this afternoon when I talk to my parts buddy over there I don't think so but hey fees are what the business is all about so you know this is a new one that they've just added in Kansas yeah that sounds about right Toto.

ouch! i guess toyota is hoping people will retire their cars and buy new.
it's too bad no aftermarket batteries have proven as reliable as oem.

These cars are getting to be like TPMS sensors: dead battery totals it.

Yes I would agree. What do you have to pay for the battery Tom?

I know a guy that replaced the battery on his Tesla - early adopter, so he paid north of $100K for it. That was $15K several years ago.

I have to look on Rick Hendrick's site to see I'm sure they've gone up no question about it and right now I've had such good luck with this guy up in Brown summit North Carolina you know I haven't had to buy a new battery since the pandemic and that car with the new battery is not being used that much I need to move it over to another car but this guy up in Brown summit has done such good work for me some of these batteries are passing the 3-year mark right now and still going pretty strong so I have no complaints but I need to check and see
