Just picked up a 2012 Prius C. It's either a one or a two. The VIN comes up as a one, but it has navigation, fog lights, and heated seats, so I'm not sure. Also, not sure I care. I'm loving it. 90% of my auto history is taking muscle cars and hot rods and making them faster and cooler, so I'm kind o chuckling at myself with this Prius. Any mods that I do will be such a departure from the typical wheels/cam/heads/exhaust I would do on anything else I own. I normally drive an Express van which I need for work, but I wanted something that got better than 15 mpg when I didn't need a van for van things. I look forward to learning. Off to read the FAQs
enjoy the departure from your norm auto history. I test drove a 2012 C base - sales person said it was straight off the hauler and hadn't been prepped. I remember seeing a Prius 5 outside in front of the showroom listed at $40K . It was nice, but ! I was driving my first hybrid at that time an 06 civic mx and an 02 civic ex. Not my first choices but close enough during those times. Before that I was sourced to maintain the misses 92 intrepid. And my cars included an 88 mazda 323, 89 tempo 5 speed overdrive -auction find-, 72 charger 318 hand me down and a 65 beetle during high school I turned into a baha front / chrome reverse under rear flared fenders and an exhaust extractor called baha marimba band by the new owners of the body shop I was working at.
If you think of an OEM part, and take you VIN to a dealer parts desk, those guys are usually pretty good at matching up the VINs. Web pages not always so much, I've had a problem once with web page VIN verification to. Another way is by registering at toyota.com/owners there you can see any dealer services you get, if you take your C in for service, beside a bunch of other specs and what trim your car is too. It makes it double hard since the owners manual lists all trims features and options available that year, so that's no help either.
