Where I work (a grocery store near Chicago) the parking lot holds about 210 parked cars. On any given day within the last few years, there were an average of 10-12 Teslas present. Then, a few weeks ago, I have noticed the count go way way down to about two or three with my own Model Y being one of them. People are not driving their Tesla cars as often or parking them unattended for any given time. Sentry Mode won't disaude crazies. The owners are either being more protective of their cars possible being damaged or they are embarrassed to be seen with one. Or both. The wave of anti-Musk-Tesla is strong. I am also embarrassed to be driving mine lately. The tide can turn very very quickly against Musk and Tesla. We are seeing it being played out live in real time. It will get worse. Much worse. I am convinced my $60K car is just about worthless now.

At one time, I looked into getting a Toyota Estima, a hybrid mini-van in Canada and bringing it into the USA. I learned the manufacturer has to write a letter about compliance with our vehicle rules. That would only mean a car manufactured to foreign specifications and sold only in that country. Most model Teslas are manufactured in the US and to US and the country of destinations specs.
A car is just an inanimate object - it takes no political sides. Very strange people in the world these days - vandalizing another's property and justifying it by their own politics! What do these nut cases do to their children, parents, spouses ,relatives, neighbors etc if they might happen to have different political views than their own political views? Having a cars resale value affected by political views is taking insanity to a special place. I will buy the car I want, to do the job I need, after doing the proper research if it is the right tool for me. so - to answer your question where have I been - I've been right here - but I determine the course of my own life - not the Government, not the political climate, not the latest virtue signaling fad, not tv news anchors, and most assuredly not political leaders or their followers. I bought a PHEV 5 years ago after much research and would buy the same vehicle today if I had to purchase a vehicle- it was the right 'tool' for the job. I generally keeps vehicles 10 years before selling them - but am currently researching which vehicle I may buy in 5 years. I am intrigued by the VW Buzz and the New Kia P5 van. Couldn't really give a hoot in hell what some TV News Anchor or Politician thinks of my choices.
Is this also true when any company or product gets boycotted? Is it insane for the public to express displeasure for them by trying to hurt profits, or simply take their business elsewhere? People are displeased with Musk, and his image is closely tied to his companies. That connection helped Tesla in the past, and it is hurting it now. So people have stopped buying new Teslas. Unfortunately for those that already own one, this action has an effect on resale value. We'd have seen the same if there was a used beer market. People boycotting by not buying a new Tesla are doing it to hurt Tesla's profits that are Musk's by extension, not to hurt current owners. The vandalism is another matter.

The problem is allowing emotions to alter your thought process... this is the human flaw that we all struggle with. The old woman who helps an injured snake recover is later bitten and while dying can't understand why the snake bit her. Nature doesn't care. It's a venomous snake. Elon,Trump,Hillary,Bieber,Puffy, Epstein,Obama,Biden,Pelosi, me friends, my family, ME have all made mistakes and bad choices that other human don't agree with.
