Anora beat Conclave as Best Picture. I saw both and found the former to be meh, but the latter to dig deeply, especially in spoiler not provided here. Latter may have been too controversial for current fragile world.
"Anora .... animal, mineral, or vegetable?" Given name of a human cinematic character, so animal fits best among 3 choices. If any readers have seen Conclave, please + or - recommend it. Nobody listens to me here
Huh??? Haven't seen it but I might read Bob Harris' book since most of my clan are either Papists or (like mself) prods. I've seen some of his titles but I must admit that his first book (Fatherland) dulled my curiosity about his work. My bias, not his failings as a writter. I have little enough time for REAL history, so I have little patience for counter-factual, or "alternative" history. First 'trans' Pope? Yeeeeah. It's probably a little more complicated than that - because....biology, science and stuff. As a prod, it's not my fight since the Holy Father to me is just another preacher, only in a funny looking outfit. Like I said, the movie is based on Harris' book bearing the same title, so if the locals in your nation allow it to be read then you may be able to read it before you watch it. Good Luck.
Conclave, or the book it is based on reminds me of Dan brown books. Enough truth mixed in with fiction to give improper impressions. I’m getting enough of that with the current administration
