Cargo area and hatch lights. Where would you put the switches?

Hi all,
I just installed a cargo area dome light

and some hatch lights.

What are your opinions about the best place to mount the switches? I was thinking for the dome light I would just install a switch next to the existing cargo area light. For the hatch lights, I was thinking of one of three places: also by the cargo area light, on the black plastic hatch trim, or on this pillar trim.

On the hatch itself seems logical except that I worry about it getting hit and turned on by something in the cargo area. Also I tapped into the existing cargo light circuit so they are off when the hatch is closed. I assume that these LEDs drawing 3W each shouldn't draw too much current for this circuit. If I am wrong please let me know.
