Hybrid Battery Reconditioning/Replacement Options?

    Update on this topic. I received my "B6 V3 smart chargers" after being scammed by one Dhgate vendor. Guy sent some random bullsch*t to Salt Lake City and marked tracking as delivered. Took awhile but I got my money back:mad:.

    The chargers seem to work OK, one issue is that they don't do well charging lead/acid batteries in a car. Error message is "connection break" so I suspect its from inadequate contact. They do support NiMH cycle charging but the balance charging features are only for LiPo batteries with a special connector. I don't know enough about those systems yet to make use of the feature. So I guess I'll use the cycle charging feature with low amp discharge/charge settings. I have a car with a bad hybrid battery but haven't pulled the unit yet.

    Price was right on the chargers and I can include the Dhgate vendor if others are interested.

    When charging and discharging individual modules, there is no need to disassemble the entire battery, removing all the modules. Modules that are not tightened into the case tend to swell when charging or discharging. Deformation of the plastic leads to loss of the module.

    Right, I've seen other mention to keep the battery pack clamped together to prevent swelling. Also they said don't charge adjacent modules at the same time and keep the pack cool.

    But the bus bars need to come off, so I guess its still required to pull the pack from the car, right?

    You only have to pull the cover off the top to get to the bus bars.

    The process of charging individual modules is not a five-minute story. Of course, the battery must be removed and placed in some room or garage where it is possible to leave it under observation for several hours or days.
    An exception when the battery does not need to be removed from the car is the Prolong system, but they are used to charge all modules at once when the car is under supervision.
