Every time I fill the gas on the Prius, I can't help but notice why the receptable for the gas filler is so flexible such that when you insert the "gun", you can feel that the whole thing moves. I am not sure I like that.
You'd prefer it to be brittle, so it might crack or shatter in the cold? Flexible fuel system components mean (among other things) minor collisions don't have to involve fuel spills or fuel fires.
The extra "give" when you lean on the nozzle, will also ensure you don't break or crack something. Kinda like a strain relief, so you stop pushing on it.
