How much longer is your trigger point?
    How much quicker " " ".
'Cost differential' should always use Total Cost of Ownership, correct? Have you seen those reviews?
Sometimes it's a very small difference. Sometimes the EV is cheaper in the long run.
And these studies/reviews don't count the owner's time driving to and fueling the Gasser, and the total time spent dikin with oil changes.

Did I mention the 20 seconds it takes to Plug / Unplug each day and that I drive for <1 cent per mile.?
It's been "Ready Now" for me since buying a '14 Spark EV in '15.

As stated before...EV discussions need their own thread.

For the Camry it says "inspect or replace" every 30K miles. they say, of course, to inspect for leaks.

Check for leaks is really all most manufacturers call for. I did pan drops on automatics by 100k miles in the past. I'll do a change on the Outback at 66K, but it has a drain bolt for the transmission, and only a portion of the fluid drains out. Subaru's check interval is 36k miles.

Just checked a 2024 Honda Accord Owner's Manual; they still specify periodic replacement of transmission fluid.

The question is: What's the "specified intervals"?
I'm looking forward to renting a new Camry Hybrid for a day!

Their maintenance chart shows every 30K miles.I assume that would be 30K or 3 years

The 8th gen non-hybrid has 60k/6y listed for ATF replacement for severe conditions(towing, car top carrier, heavy loading, excessive idling/low speed driving). Inspections every 60k/6y if no severe conditions.

The 8th gen non-hybrid AWD has 15k/1.5y replacement of diff oil and transfer case oil for severe conditions(towing, car topper, heavy loading). Also 90k/9y replacement of those oils for dirt roads/dusty driving. Inspections of these fluids every 15k/1.5y if no severe conditions.

The 8th gen hybrid also has 60k/6y for ATF replacement for severe conditions, but they drop the excessive idling/low speed driving from the list of severe conditions). Inspections every 60k/6y if no severe conditions.

The 9th gen hybrid(2025-) has the same 60k/6y for ATF replacement for severe conditions as the 8th gen, but they changed the inspections to every 30k/3y.

I'd personally go 6y/60k on the non-hybrids no matter the conditions, and anywhere from 6y-9y/60k-90k on the hybrids.

The 2025 Camry lists ATF replacement at 60K for severe conditions. Good catch! The new formatting for the maintenance schedule takes less pages but is more difficult to follow, IMO.

Thanks for the info! I'm not up on toyota's hybrid fleet.
I'm renting a Camry Hybrid later to day to blast through a 550 mi route. Don't know the year yet, or even if I actually get what I signed up for.... you know how it goes at a dinky neighborhood rental office.
I'm really curious how this car feels compared to my lowly '10 Gen3 Prius.(y)

Dang, 8th and 9th gen hybrids!! Wow !
How does that relate to the Prius line up? The Gen3 Prius is what it is. What is a Gen5 Prius considered?
How are they listing all these new hybrid 'Gens'?

Camry 9th Gen (2025 +) is totally hybrid with THS Gen 5.
    Camry 8th Gen Hybrid (2018 - 2024) is HSD Gen 4.
My 2025 Camry XLE with Premium Plus package feels & rides better than my previous 2017 Prius Two. I suspect any rental would be a stripped down Camry LE though.

I believe @bisco had a Gen 3 Prius and has an 8th Gen Camry hybrid. His feedback may be useful. IIRC he drives it from Boston to Florida every year.

    Thanks again!
I'm not familiar with 'THS Gen5' and 'HSD Gen4'. Is this related to the Prius Gen's?
Are you saying the 8th Gen is not totally hybrid? Like those cars with 'Auto Start/Stop', hybrid Lite's?

Oh, are you relating them to the Prii Gens? Of course,, now.(y)
Gen of the Camry, and Gen of the Prius hybrid system, correct?

Edit: Man I hope it's not too 'stripped down'. I rented a Corolla last week and was very impressed with the Driver Assist System!
Just a tap on the steering wheel every ~25-30 seconds and it's a decent AP on the highway!
Will any Camry have a similar system?
I still want a Comma3 in my cars!

That is my comparison. Sorry I was not clear. Some 8th Gen Camrys were ICE only. In fact, I think a majority of them were.9th Gern are all hybrid. Of course some are complaining about not having the v6 engine as an option.
My 2017 Prius Two was a 4th Gen Hybrid but lost a battle with a 4Runner.

THS == Toyota Hybrid system, the new name replacing Hybrid Synergy Drive.
It also makes the naming more consistent with LHS - Lexus Hybrid System.

I got the extra package on my Camry XLE that has all the safety features, including the panoramic view. I find the radar assisted cruise control much improved from my Prius. That may be due to the added sensors in my camry though.
Meanwhile, we have another rabbit trail...

Okay, so it's pretty easy with the Prius because there are five generations of the Prius chassis and five generations of the Toyota hybrid system(formerly Hybrid Synergy Drive(HSD) but now called Toyota Hybrid System(THS)). So the hybrid system in the Prius is the same gen as the chassis. It's a little harder with cars that predated the hybrid, like the Camry.

Camry (only looking at the last few generations and only US models)
6th gen(2006-11) - came in FWD & FWD hybrid - hybrid version used the 3rd gen hybrid system
7th gen(2012-17) - came in FWD & FWD hybrid - hybrid version also used the 3rd gen system
8th gen(2018-24) - came in FWD, AWD, & FWD hybrid - hybrid version used the 4th gen system
9th gen(2025-) - comes in FWD hybrid and AWD hybrid - all use the 5th gen system

How it's going to feel is going to depend on which year you get from the rental office. If you're lucky enough to get a 2025, it's going to feel very similar to a 5th gen Prius. If you get a 2024 or earlier, then it's going to be more similar to a 4th gen Prius. The same goes for the driving aids. The 2025 Camry comes with the same Toyota Safety Sense(TSS) 3.0 that comes with the 5th gen Prius. The later 8th gen Camrys came with the same TSS 2.5+ that came in the later 4th gen Priuses.

    Thansk for the details!
Well, I didn't get a Camry Hybrid. Surprise....:( I don't think this little strip mall office even had any, even though I signed up for one.
They always say online "or similar".... Give me a break.

I got a Chevy Trax. Same as it ever was. Key in the ignition, brakes that only make heat and wear out the pads, auto transmission that tries to find the right gear. Sloppy ACC if it really had it. It did have 'Following Distance Warning' and half way through the day I noticed a button down on the right side of the center console that turns on a LKA that simply ping-pongs from one line to the other.

The previous week I had a Corolla with a very decent ACC and LKA where it centered in the lane and would beep after ~30s and a tap on the wheel kept it going hands free for another 30s.

But the 'transmission fluid' ! We should get back on topic...:ROFLMAO:
