Perhaps, just perhaps, the refineries, distilleries, the chemical scientist guys will not develop anything without a possible market to use it. toyota is researching the possible market for consumption.
1. What sort of Daily Driving do you do in those two vehicles? If and when you're on a long road trip, is a 15 minute fuel up at +250 miles that bad? What about the fuel and maintenance savings? A 15 minute Walkabout does a body good! (y) 2. Nice. Go C8 or have an old legacy Vette. :) (My lottery car!) 3. You'll be bored when you get your EV. There is no 'severe duty' and very little to maintain in general. Tires, wiper blades, cabin filter, Once every ~100k miles you could replace the drive unit fluid. Maybe you could take up a new hobby with all your extra time, not 'wrenching' on your EV !!:)(y) edit: why blue? I tried and tried to get back to black. and no emogis...
HEV (Hybrid) is a set towards PHEV. My son does his business commute with EV in his 2023 Prius Prime PHEV.The tech is not yet there for BEVs without some range anxiety.
Yes, perhaps,,, bless their hearts. Better luck this time. Hydrogen was a bust. Why are they dragging their feet with BEVs?
To allow BEV battery & charging technology to catch up at a reasonable price. In the meantime, they are conserving & maximizing their existing battery production. Their second best selling vehicle in 2024 for the US was a hybrid, the Camry.
in the US 3 million out of 243 million drivers (2023 numbers). Lower cost HEV & PHEV reduce emissions. The current EV tech is not cost effective for most people even if it did not have the range & charging time issues. That is why I did not even consider an EV late last year when purchasing a vehicle..
1.. Is that toyota's official stance? Or just a Fan's take on the foot dragging? 2. What was 'their' first? Another Gasser? Funny, I'm scheduled to rent a Camry hybrid this sunday because my Gen3 has routinely blown its head gasket. I'm looking forward to seeing if it's just like a Prius!
That's the first time I've heard a Prius and HV RAV4 refered to as old gassers on PC. As for my 2019 ZR1...it brings me great joy thank you.
1. Seems low, but idk... ~3 million EV's are on the road here? How about worldwide? I know, who cares.... 2. They 'reduce emissions', what?, like 15 -20% better than a gasser? Big Deal. Drive 20% less, same savings. Have you seen Total Cost of Ownership studies? EV's can be very 'cost effective'. But yes, yes, you have to get off your azz on a long road trip. But that's good for you, right? I know this doesn't count but,, how about ~$14k purchase 3 yrs ago on a 2 year old Bolt. Just tires, wipers, cabin filter. I'm past due for the drive unit fluid change Did I mention that a lot of that time my cost for energy has been <1 cent per Mile?
I hear this statement all the time. "Not there yet" When, exactly, will it be there? Similar to make america great again. When exactly was america last great? When the corporate and wealth taxes were way way higher and the middle class was not stagnating?
1. Beyond Zero Vision 2. The RAV4 which includes HEVs and PHEVS in addition to ICE only. i am thoroughly enjoying my 2025 Camry XLE.
I'm as guilty as anyone, but why don't we get back on topic. Or take the debate elsewhere, another thread or whatever. If someone's looking for info on transmission fluid, comes here, they'll think they misread the title, lol.
Longer range, quicker charging, and lower cost differential. Current EVs have too high a premium cost.
