After reading some posts about some useful technical sources, I was able to download the repair manual and wiring diagrams from TIS after buying a 2 day subscription and using this process described on a git hub page (fetch-toyota-service-manuals). I can't post the link because my post count is too low as a new forum member to post URLs.

The download took about 40 minutes for everything and creates a file hierarchy that mimics a table of contents: the tree view on the navigation bar of the TIS website. Unfortunately, it was not able to download the BM manuals, a problem reported by other users. Fortunately, I only wanted a few of these anyway so downloaded them manually. I'm still working on a way to modify the internal links which are retained to the original source so not really helpful in the manual even thought the content is downloaded: the link uses the TIS site reference.

You have the option of printing to pdf, a method described in other threads but this was much easier although it does require some technical knowledge to install the required programs. The set up took longer for me than the actual downloads. It is also a solution that may not be around for long. The TIS system is moving to a 2 factor authentication process and it's likely that the scripts will no longer work unless the author revises them.

It would be the use of a text message or email. Re-reading it, it looks "opt-in" so my caution about the change and the use of the scripts would be dependent on the choices the subscriber makes.
