I bought an android head unit off Aliexpress to upgrade my car with a new radio that had gps a 360 camera system and all the bells and whistles.

I'm no stranger to DIY having done it for over 12 years. So I figured I could iron out problems over time. I spend the last few days gutting my car trims to install the cameras and connecting the radio harness through the adapters to the new radio. When I go to set up the steering wheel buttons only the MODE and CALL buttons are recognized by the swc software.

When I use the volume or next/prev buttons I get no response on the headunit, but the cars mfd says that they are being pressed. I've tried dabbling with the settings and even checking the 28 pin connector adapter for the radio and everything seems in order. Would anyone have encountered this problem before and what could I do to fix it?

How are you getting along with this? I bought a similar unit from eBay, won't be here for a month or two though.

When I upgraded the unit in my 2010 Mazda3 I had to buy a separate device (iDatalink I think it was) and cables to get the steering wheel controls to work. You may need that as well? Check crutchfield.com, when I bought my kit I got it from there and they had everything I needed in the package.

FYI: You may also want to check your door chimes and alert buzzers. They're also sometimes wired through your head units
