It’s the employees. I just got off the phone with Amazon pharmacy. They said I don’t have an account. I said I have the bottle of pills from you in my hand. They said you need to create a new account, I can walk you through it. I asked if I can order the pills by phone without internet. They said no you can’t. My insurance switched this year to Amazon pharmacy. I’ll be switching back to a regular drug store pharmacy asap. It’s nuts.

The dealer still has not contacted me about the parts. I am thinking about doing the bypass while waiting for the parts.

    Questions:
    1) How hard is it to perform the bypass near the wiper cowl?
    2) If and when the parts arrives, how easy is it to reverse the bypass?

    Thanks!

Never done this (have a 3rd gen), but here's a video on the procedure, fwiw. I've set the link to start at the procedure:

See @rjparker beat me to it, but still some value, above link fast-forwards to the procedure.

Thanks rjparker and Mendel! Really appreciated it.

That does not look too challenging.

Hopefully gasket master's fix is effective and no ramifications. I seem to recall someone pointing out some side-effect, not sure how trivial how crucial. Something more than slower warm-up?? Mighta been @ChapmanF? Anyway, maybe he could comment.

(Editorial: the Puzzling Professor was on CBC radio's North-By-Northwest this morning, discussing linguistic oddities, specifically compound words, hyphens and so on. I think I've caught the bug...)

Very likely will need to, if similar to gen 3.

Yeah looking at your attached pdf, you do.

    Oh heck, not sure. :ROFLMAO:

Another question. Do I need to cap the bypassed pipe and hose? Or do I just leave them open? I need to undo the bypass when the dealer parts arrive, so I am concerned about possible foreign matter getting into the circuit.

If I do need to cap it, how do I cap it? Thanks!

I'd measure the inside diameter(s) and obtain appropriate rubber stoppers. Just pushing them in firmly should do, there's no internal pressure. Or even just wadded rag and tape in a pinch.

Welp guys. Yes you can bypass the heat exchanger if you have over 150k miles or the car is older than 180 months old. But it seems we have another problem with just about all 2016-2022 engines. I’ve seen more than enough headgasket failure to know it goes out in the same area like the 2010-2011 Prius engines did. My own Prius with 83k miles is leaking coolant on cylinder 1 and the spot it’s coming from is the same where it is with many that are coming in to be repaired. The coolant is too aggressive I told Toyota. It kills plastics and eats away at gaskets. Lexus is have the same problem as well.

Hi guys, when it comes to the bypass does it cause a check engine light to appear? I just finished, and now I have a light on. I don’t mind it, as long as I know it’s related to the bypass.

No, the bypass should not cause the check engine light to come on. You need to scan the car for trouble codes.
