I have a 2014 Prius C that when I turn it off it continues making a weird buzzer style noise for 10 minutes after the car is off. Anyone have any idea what it might be? Here is a video of it making the noise.
The sound is from a small electric air pump that purges the emission control system of fumes. The pump will turn on again and run for a few minutes an hour or two after the car is parked.
"This video has been removed by the uploader"? The only emission-control pump that I know of (from gen 3 liftback anyway) is the one that is used in the automatic self-test for fuel system vapor leaks. It does run for a stretch of up to about 22 minutes, some hours after parking the car, normally 5. I've not heard of it doing anything right after shutting the car off. Unless the c system is drastically different from the gen 3 liftback system, which would surprise me.
