I've been trying to hunt for a copy of this but nothing to be found. I'm referring to the mechanics guide (diagrams, torque values etc.), NOT the users guide that is supplied. I found the thread that listed the TIS website, which I'm willing to pay and do the work for - but I'd thought I'd ask if anybody has already done this for the Gen 5. I'd be willing to pay you for the time it took, if you have the complete PDF. Thanks.
It's getting tougher to make a presentable pdf I think. Gen 2's was excellent. Gen 3 was ok, but cumbersome. Gen 4: someone mentioned they'd done one, quick-and-dirty, just alphabetically sorted (Install came before remove, for example), and a bookmark tree that was only navigable of for one sub-level. I managed to cadge a copy from him. I'd guess Gen 3's was the last "official" pdf, from there on it's been cobbled-only. Don't think anyone's stepped up for 5th gen. Demand is less I suppose. FWIW, all of them have broken links.
Nothing official about it ... the manual on TIS is many many web pages and images. There's a big PDF you can sometimes find, cobbled together by several people clicking "print to PDF" many many times and glomming the small PDFs together. The fonts change between some sections and others, and some sections have headers or footers with the names of the TIS accounts used to print them. Large stretches got missed, including pretty much all of the trouble code details and troubleshooting steps for power management control ECU codes. And the whole airbag system section is the one for gen 2, however that happened.
So far ... not great. I went through the registration process and finally the CC payment screen. I'm at the "Please select the Authorize Credit Card button once and wait patiently. It can take up to a minute for the transaction to process." I submitted and it's stuck on that screen. Checked my CC account and the transaction is pending, but the website has gone nowhere in 10 minutes. Not a great look here. Anyone else had this issue? I'm using Chrome.
Their system is pretty ancient and clunky. Once upon a time I had a problem with it myself, which was resolved by logging in again and entering my username in ALL CAPS despite it not having any caps originally. Didn't make any sense to me but it worked. Good luck!
Ever notice how service writers alway type up the invoice completely in upper case? For text nerds, a great little program is TextPad. allows you do most anything, like change this, to:
Their system is clunky, and sometimes bits do fall on the floor between your payment and the first login succeeding. Call their 800 site support number. You're in luck to be within business hours, you'll get a real person, and they'll whack whatever needs whacked on their end, and extend your paid-up period to account for the delay.
UPDATE: I called in and got it working. Apparently TIS had a system wide update over the weekend which caused 100's of people to have the same problem as me. This is the good news. The bad news is that the scope of this job is ridiculous lol.
Yep. There's a reason it hasn't been done. I considered it a year or so back, but that thought disappeared in about 0.05 seconds. lol
That sounds a little low ... it seems like the estimates for how long to have/change a thought start somewhere around three times longer.
If you want to be a part of history you can't just shy away from the ball. I put in about 10 hours on Monday. I'd say I have about 70% of it done. Unfortuntately I had work the next day so I'll have to pay again and go in for another beating this weekend. I was nice enough to also copy the AWD and PHEV sections for posterity, even thought I have LE. I skipped the 2ZR-FXE selections b/c we don't talk about that engine here. I'll let you guys know when it's done.
I downloaded it and tried to send you something with BuyMeCoffee, but that site crashed. Is it browser-specific?
Not sure if it's browser specific. You are the first to have an issue with it. I have a PayPal account if that's easier: [email protected] If neither works don't worry about it.
