Question about hybrid/engine sounds

You may be forced into some upgrades. For instance, nobody seems to have found a Camry XLE that does not include the panoramic moonroof although it is optional.At least in the In my region, cars are specced & assigned to the dealer by the distributor, Other regions likely bundle different options. Good luck in your search. i found Toyota's inventory search a good first step in locating a vehicle. Many are sole before hitting the dealer lots.

 

Casting a geographically wide net can help with that. In my area, nearly every Prius had mudguards and door side molding.

My brother took me along for a test drive of a Corolla Cross and I loved it. I appreciated the additional sidewall on broken pavement and the interior room was ample.

I still think of it fondly each time I raise my fat can out of the Prius.

 

I'm gathering that there is something on the XSE you do want or need. SEs around me can be had for 32-ish before tax. That's a ton of money. I bought my prius for 30-ish, also a ton of money. $30k is the new $20K. The calculator in my head is still calibrated to being able to buy a good enough new car for $15,000. I know I'm wrong, but I can't make the jump to being comfortable with dropping almost $40k on a cheap car.

 

I noticed that the Corolla Cross has similar taillights to my Gen 4 Prius Prime—the latter of which being some of the best taillight design ever out there.

It is possible to obsess about a new car's reported and perceived problems. My experience with new cars is you will quickly find something that gives you pause, you might have momentary buyer's remorse but you get over it. You then settle in for the honeymoon.

Which in a Toyota is usually the first 150,000 miles.

Real problems, if they exist (gen 3), might show later. You can still love it with its flaws or you can trade it in on a new model (or at least a younger one with less baggage). No one wants an exciting model that is high maintenance.

So it's better to love and lost than buy new at all.
