so many related posts thought I'd cut to the chase. I'm leaning semi`~synthetic for my gen2. This ok? thanks! And if so, assume perhaps 5k mile change interval? (vs 3k with petroleum based)

Sure, it’s fine. You’ll never get consensus on oil

Toyota doesn't say a thing, about conventional vs synthetic, or in-between. The stipulate spec's and a weight. 5W30 IIRC, which comes in both. I'd be inclined to use synthetic, just to play it safe I suppose, not that knowledgeable though. Here's some thoughts:

gen2 came with dino oil. I used full synthetic in the two I had.

gen3 came from the factory with synthetic.

Semi synthetic is a blend of conventional and synthetic.
