Black front emblem for 5th gen?

I have the plastidip for over a year and did it very casually. No issue and I've washed and waxed the car with a da polisher multiple times. I'm actually surprised how well it's holding up as I had the same idea it'd need to be redone.

As for the link, I tried ordering one for the car that was supposed to fit but the height was slightly off. It wasn't Aliexpress but another place so I had to send it back. It seems like the Prius front emblem is a different size than most other ones so I'd go with Hammersmith's part numbers.

 

Unfortunately here in Canada the nightshade parts are not available yet. There is however nightshade emblems available from toyota canada for the Sienna, Avalon, 4 Runner and Camry. Does anyone know if any of these would fit the new Prius?

 

I can't be certain, but I don't think so. If they were compatible, they would share the same part number for the standard emblem. But the two standard emblems for the Prius are just for the Prius and bZ4X.

If you're not willing to wait until they're available from Toyota Canada, maybe consider driving to Grand Island(south of Niagara Falls, NY) and pick one up there(call them first to order it, of course). Assuming you have a passport. You'll probably have to pay MSRP or a little over, but it sounds like getting the emblem is important to you.

The other option would be to find a reshipping service that would allow you to order from a cheaper Toyota dealership and then they would bring it over the border and ship it to you from inside Canada. During the pandemic, I remember reading about a house that sits literally on the border. The owners accept packages through one entrance, they're given a new label, then they move them to the other side of the house where a delivery service in the other country picks them up to be delivered. But the costs for the process are probably more than the difference between a cheap dealership and the one in Grand Island. OTOH, a trip to Grand Island might be a 4hr round trip or more depending on which part of Toronto you live in.

So I guess it's decision of quality(OEM vs. AliExpress, etc.), money(reshipper), your time(driving across the border yourself), or total time(waiting for Toyota Canada to get them).

 

The 2024 Prius bonnet emblem is 120 x 80mm.
I've changed mine to gloss black. Fits exactly and looks great. AliExpress.

Automatic. You'll see it as a separate discount when you go to check out. I always recommend finding enough maintenance items to get the total to $75 to get the free shipping. The $75 minimum is calculated after the 31% discount but before the 15% discount, so your total could end up being as low as $63.75(before any possible tax).

You could also wait until a 20% sale, but I don't know when the next one of those is going to be.

(I personally think your car would look great with the blacked out P R I U S on the back, but there's nothing more subjective than taste.)

I placed an order for the front and back emblem.
I'm not sure when emblems will ship or if they ship from the dealer or a regional warehouse.
Once received and installed, I will post before and after photos. Only OE parts for me except for window tint.

 

Anyone have suggestions on how to remove the original front emblem and the steps afterwards with what to clean the glue off with and surface prepping for the new black emblem?

 

You'll need to be very careful.
The panel is plastic, so you can't put much heat there. I simply lifted the original off after pouring some hot (not boiling) water over the emblem and with plastic pry tools carefully removed the residue.
Any adhesive and surplus residue can be easily removed then with Isopropyl alcohol.

Once it's all done, remember to polish the entire area to remove any fine scratches, because once the emblem is finished, you'll never be able to get in between its design.

The oval must be cleaned thoroughly to remove any contamination like wax etc BEFORE applying the new emblem.

 

I just plastidipped the front emblem this past weekend. I've done this to my FJ before so am familiar with taping and pulling off excess plastidip overspray. I only did two coats so hopefully it holds up ok.

 

Word of advice before anyone places an order for the Black OE front and rear emblems. Emblems are on a national backorder and Lewis Toyota won't have any update until end of the month from Toyota. This isn't an issue for me since emblems are just for an aesthetic improvement.

 

Oem is not an option yet here in Canada. Has anyone else ordered and installed the front emblem from aliexpress? If you could share a pic that would be great. Just wondering what the quality is like compared to the much more expensive etsy one which I saw posted on another thread.

 

Our car is white, so getting a black emblem cover is not super important to me. However, if there was a black cover for the interior steering wheel emblem, it would be awesome to get one of those. If anyone ever finds one of these, please post a link. I know these exist (got one on another toyota), but I have not been able to find one yet the that fits the gen5 prius (as it has a smaller, lower profile emblem).

 

Yes, just plastidip it, you don't even need to remove the original emblem.

 

OEM emblems arrived.
Front emblem is black as expected, but rear emblem is the exact same as current emblem.
I will replace the front emblem this weekend. The front Chrome emblem bothered me more than the rear emblem so I'm not too upset.
