Given your engine is 145k I would not use any of those parts, but you might want to save your coolant pumps, egr parts and intake. Maybe save the injectors, maf and other sensors.

Otherwise I would install your JDM as is with fresh oil.

I did already purchase a new water pump, I guess I could resell it or keep as a spare? Was wondering about the PCV valve and thermostat also while they’re easy to get to.

I would return the water pump unless it was purchased at a dealer. Too many counterfeits in oem packaging and the obvious aftermarket's are just as bad.

It's up to you but realize a clean jdm without oxidation could be a 2020 or 2021 gen3 engine in Japan.

A battered carpenter's square is not quite a "machinist's straight edge", that said it's probably pretty straight. I would maybe check it first, say on a sheet of float glass or similar, in a couple of directions. Is it by chance aluminum?

Does sound like a bent piston arm.

Here's the head and block flatness specs:

I am curious which egr valve came with your jdm engine? It has a number on the housing but I can't quite make it out.
There were at least two versions.

Good question, I’ll post a picture here in a bit.

    Yes, it's better than 25620-37110.
You can't tell when an engine was manufactured, but individual engine attachments can indicate that it's still "young and strong" :)

Yes it is a better egr valve which is not as likely to wear and stick open at low rpms or wide open throttle when the egr flow is shut off by the ecm.

At some point you may want to verify the ecm calibration id (software version) is the latest as well.

Just googling the part no I see some totally preposterous prices, too. Hopefully no one bites.

That revised valve has been out for years now and still PriusChat doesn't know what they changed, because nobody who has bought one has been willing to take the black part off and take pictures. Are you game?

    Well I don't have one, there's that.

I did finally manage to remove the cap on mine (part no ending in "10"). A hammer-driven impact screw driver, helped, and having replacement screws on hand for just-in-case. I put those in, for next time.

But yeah, agree, it'd be good to find out what the differences are. It's readily evident it's taller, maybe a centimeter.

Been extremely busy at work lately! Haven’t been able to move forward with the engine swap, however I have made some progress in other areas. Using information found here, I put together a low budget grid charger that will hopefully get my battery capacity back up where it needs to be to be able to start the engine. image.jpg
