C1345 (Fail when trying to learn) C1368 (Seems like a freeze frame of data during learn process) Detail code "505" in the freeze frame data. The service manual sort of hints that there's a problem with the Skid Control ECU? History: I bought this 2007 for cheap with a known bad-breaks issue. Whoever tried to replace the accumulator prior managed to cross thread the bottom fitting in the accumulator and jack up the threads, brake line tip AND the accumulator nipple. So... I ordered a used accumulator off eBay and installed it. For each learn attempt I do "Reset" the memory in TechStream. I have in the past installed a used accumulator into a different 2007 and this learn process worked just fine. Yes I've certainly bled the brakes according to service manual. FR then FL with relays removed and RR then RL with relays installed. Does anyone else have any suggestions to try or is it more than likely just a bad accumulator I installed? Learn video:
However you could be on to something the IG1 IG2 voltages in the freeze frame show 11.1V - I'll double check the 12V battery now. OK - I checked it.. over 500CCA. I even watched the voltage with a multimeter while the learn was running and it held solid at 12.55V during the entire test.
Then next possible thing is the actuator you are putting in is no good. This job is so labor intensive, I wouldn't try putting in a used unit. You can try to bleed the system again. Then try to do the linear offset again. But I think your used unit is bad
Copy.. I did actually bleed all wheels twice as well. On the second bleed the FR did manage to push out a tiny air pocket and I got excited that it might work but it did not.
I don't know why everybody thinks this is such a labor intensive job changing the engine maybe a labor intensive job changing the break actuator and moving over the inverter for an hour or so well I don't really consider that labor intensive but that's all subjective I never unlearn anything from the car ever especially doing this job I just slap in the new break actuator feed fluid and button up to collars on the brake lines to the actuator bottom up as the fluid runs through pushing out air and all that nonsense right there I'm watching it bubble up on the fittings close everything up bleed the brakes with the relays out just like a regular old car slap the relays in and bleed the back and then don't do anything else turn the car off back on take the charger off and see if all the lights go away and I'm actually stopping the car Right in my driveway The four or five times I've done this I haven't done anything with unlearning anything or trying to learn the linear valve offset so whatever value that was stored in the car when I change the brake actuator it wasn't unhappy with the two pieces the conversation they're having or something One time I couldn't get the light to go off I didn't even bother reading the codes I just went straight over cleared the linear valve offset and then turn the car off turn it back on re-enter tech and then go straight to the linear valve offset learning business and just about every time I do this which is only been a couple of times as you see this last thing never happens what is that something flashes fast or the thing is flashing fast and then it doesn't stop with the other light flashing to acknowledge it's finished I've never seen it do that in the two or three times I've done this the last thing that's supposed to happen but yet my lights went off and my linear valve offset I guess was learned. And I still own these cars they're sitting right out here and have tags on them and they're driven and none of them have a light on on the dash. So I don't know what makes the linear valve offset go crazy whether it's literally internally inside of the brake actuator or whether it's communication between the skid control ECU and the break actuator not speaking the same dialect or something I'm not real sure. I've never changed the skid control ECU at all matter of fact to put it more bluntly I've never had to change a computer in any of these generation 2 Prius all of mine as far as I know are all their original electronics minus the push button switch here and there all the computers and everything I haven't even pulled the plugs to check for corrosion because something else has been wrong none of this has been touched and all of these cars now are however many years old they are 2006 to 8's or what I have here.
Ebay seller swiftly refunded me and said I didn't need to send it back... I ordered a different one and I'll slap that in and see if it works. I'll follow up on this thread with the result.
Ok here's the follow-up: Different used actuator from ebay installed and Linear Valve Offset Learned just fine. No more brake errors or lights.
