When I mounted my catch can I took the intake off for access and in the reinstall process found that the holes in the little EGR pipe were ever so slightly off from where it screws into the intake. I loosened the screws of the intake, attached it to the little pipe and promptly forgot to go back and tighten the intake mounting bolts. When I went to turn the car on I had P3190 and P3191, but fixing the problem fixed the codes. This setup was a little different then yours, but maybe you had MAF issues, fixed them, but then left the intake bolts loose?

Still not running. i am wondering if my maf sensor looks ok but is actually failing. Could someone with a gen 3 and tech stream tell me what their maf reading is wiith the engine not running?

My money is on zero grams per second when the engine isn't running. What are you seeing?

I have torque also but my TS maf is reading 0.18, very close. However my MAP is always reading 14 psi (1 atmosphere).
    Was your engine running?

Cheapy version makes me wonder where all those 133 grams of air per second were going without the engine turning!

100 kPa is also about one atmosphere (strictly, 1 atm is about 101.325 kPa or 14.696 psia).

So Im back with an update. After struggling unsuccessfully to fix my Prius I took it to the dealer. Very weard. First it was misfire, maybe sparkplug (new) or coil. Then rust in cylinder 3 suggested head gasket leak. I never saw my coolant go down so I wonder. Dealer claims they took picture. I tested compression previously in all cylinders (ok), lookied in cylinders for signs of leak but found nothing unusual. i didnt check cylinder walls though, just the piston heads, which all looked the same with some carbon buildup (oil for egr?). I did the egr cleaning which was very necessary so I tried to verify blown head gasket or not. So I am confused but hey. Dealer says I need to replace engine because head is now warped. I have never overheated engine nor the previous owner but know that the egr can cause blown gaskets. So I need opinions on whether I should replace engine or just try replacing head gasket and have machine shop verify if head is ok. Maybe get a used head. What do you all suggest.

A year and a half worth of it shakes violently combined with rust in a cylinder is quite conclusive.

But hope seems to have squashed a head gasket diagnosis up to now.

I am not sure how the dealer knows the head is warped except from previous experience.

Dealers almost always decline head gasket jobs on these engines or price them higher than a used engine installation.

They prefer to install a new short block and rebuilt head for around $8k here in Texas. Of course that is more than the car is worth even as a runner

If you can find an independent to install a JDM engine for $3k-$4k I would go that route assuming you want to get three or four more years out of it.

Didnt drive it all that interval. Just ignored the car until I had to move it. Besides gas engine wouldnt run, just kept stalling. Seems weird that it would be the head gasket making the engine stall but this engine isnt really normal. You didnt say I shouldnt fix the head gasket leak. What could be wrong with the engine? It was running fine until it started stalling. I keep wondering how there is rust on the cylinder wall if the piston rings are intact. Wont know until I open it up. Thanks.
